I have the issue with the blurry lo-res contact pics that display when a call comes in. These are pictures I took with the Evo and assigned to a contact. I can understand the phone loading a "thumbnail" of the 2MB shot, but does it have to be horrible?? Seems like this could easily be addressed. What do you think?

I have the same problem on the Motorola Droid. I'm not quite sure why it's like that. It seems like it's just a software design flaw. I don't think it can show higher res pics, which IS disappointing because it is not utilizing the great quality pictures or screen on either of our phones. I don't know if there are any apps or fixes to this, but if you find out, please let me know as well.

Glad you're loving your new phone! The EVO looks pretty slick, I've gotta say. Welcome to the Android Community

I noticed this myself and was wondering what the deal was. I fixed it by not resizing the green frame when selecting the contact picture. It seemed like whenever I stretched the frame to include more of the image, the result was a pixelated picture. I would love to hear how to avoid this as the frame doesn't always yield the results I want but at least in the meantime I have clean images for caller ID.

I believe it has something to do with Google sycning our contacts. When the contacts sync, I think it lowers the res of the pictures. I sychronized all of my contacts, then I diabled my google contacts sync. I also saved my contacts to my sd card and the contact photos from sd card remained in high res. I havent had ANY problems with contact photo resolution since disabling google contact sync.

Hope this helps....

Hello Everyone,

I was extremely frustrated by this as well. I've only had my EVO for a few days, and have absolutely loved it, with the exception of my contact photos looking EXTREMELY BLURRY. Here is the fix...
As this post suggests, disable (or turn off) your Auto-sync (particularly Google). From your home screen, select Menu, Settings, Accounts & sync, then un-check the Auto-sync box. Go back to your contacts, and delete the images that are assigned to them, individually. Now go back to contacts again, and add your photos to your contacts from your photo gallery. Even my cropped photos look sharp once again.
