Am I missing something here??? The "new" gallery album effect...

Is there a 'sticky' with a step by step instruction to loading this type of file?

downlaod astro file manager from market place and then download this apk file to your computer. Connect the evo as a hard drive to your computer. Then move the file from your pc onto the sdcard. Disconnect evo from pc - open astro file manager - locate the apk file. Click on the apk file and select "open app manager." Click install. When it's done it should bring the program right up. You should also now have two galleries installed under your apps list.

Nice, but it decided to put all my album art on it, which are all in individual folders by artist. Anyway to exclude folders? If it was just showing the music folder it will not be a problem but it is showing about a hundred different folders.
Thanks.

Actually showing each album folder which is even more.
Create an empty file in the directory that you want to exclude and name the file ".nomedia", without the quotes. This will exclude the directory from being scanned by the gallery. This works for both the stock Gallery, as well as the HTC gallery.

FYI, if you have the older 3dgallery, go menu > settings > applications > manage applications > click on app > uninstall.
Then, just use chrome to phone to open a link in your phone's browser, click on start download, then pull down your notification bar, click on the download and click install.
Couldn't be easier!
I love that it links to picasa.

Note that there is a 3D Gallery on the market by Flikie that is not the same as this. Looks almost identical but is missing the Pinch Peek feature and for me, it wouldn't open the camera.

This app does take a long time the first time you open it as it is collecting all your images and making thumbnails and organizing the data. If you mount your SD card to your computer and move stuff around, the next time you open it, it has to rebuild again to get the updates. Well worth the wait for what it gives you.

For those asking about the Pinch Peek feature, it's useful seeing what is in a folder without opening the folder itself. Maybe not that useful most of the time, but fun to play with.

There are several other cool features in it as well...

When you're in a gallery with a lot of pictures, you can use the scroll control at the bottom to go side to side by date. There is also a toggle switch at the top to switch from grid view to folders by date. Also, if you have photos with geotags, it will show the location although this seems to be a bit funky. Another thing it does is the camera button asks me which camera app I want to open. I have the stock camera and Vignette. Once you're done taking your picture, hit the back button on the phone and it takes you back to the 3D Gallery.
