I was thinking the same thing. Plus most reviews still give the edge to the Evo, some have even mentioned the screen even being better.

This is true. However, the fact that it's Gorilla Glass does not make it immune or scratches or shattering. FWIW, the Evo glass is probably just as scratch resistant.
How about the fact that the first Galaxy S phones were released in Europe in the beginning of June and GPS problems were known at the time? If there is actually a fix in Sept, then that means it will have taken them three months for a pretty big issue. HTC released a battery fix within weeks and 2.2 in two months. If that's any sort of comparison, it does not make Samsung look any more responsive than they have in the past.
But when will the 2.2 upgrade come? They have thrown out some vague date for the Captivate and Vibrant, but keep in mind that the Epic is not running the same version of Touchwiz and therefore needs a different update than the other phones. I would not be surprised if 2.2 doesn't come until next year. I would be shocked if it came before Gingerbread. Maybe Evo will have Gingerbread before the Epic gets 2.2. Would not shock me.
How is this statement even remotely correct? The Evo clearly has the biggest dev base for Android, and there are multiple custom ROMs, kernels, and whatnot available right now. There are no custom ROMs for US Galaxy phones. Most phones get rooted before they're released or just thereafter. Even the Moto X got rooted. That means nothing these days.
From what I've read, that is completely backwards. Hero owners are on the whole much happier than Moment owners.
No, it hasn't. Until someone uses a GPS analysis program that shows the number of satellites locked and the accuracy of the position, it is not proven. If you turn off cell tower assisted on the Epic, the GPS sucks. If you need cell tower assistance like Engadget was told to enable by Samsung, it means GPS is still broken.
So it's slightly bigger but has a smaller screen? I'll take the larger screen and the smaller size, thank you very much.
I'll also take the screen that isn't tinted blue and makes whites look bluish. I'll take the one without the Pentile Matrix screen so text is crisp up close. I'll also take the screen with responsive capacitive buttons.
The Epic 4G is a great phone and will make Android the mobile OS with the biggest guns in the smartphone landscape. If you fell in love with the look of SAMOLED or want a Hummingbird processor or want a hard keyboard badly or just felt burned in some way by the Evo, I would never begrudge anyone their choice. It's all good AFAIC.
But please, stop spouting fanboy nonsense.
Don't doubt Sammy just yetAs a former Instinct Owner and Moment owner....No Samsung for me. The phone business is just some side business for Samsung. HTC is a phone manufacturer....period. It is what pays their bills. They Have to perform and their performance does not get lost or diluted in the balance sheet of a giant comglomerate.
Anyway, THE number one warning sign is that it is launching with 2.1. That is weak!!! And THAT is exactly what they did with the Moment. They launched with 1.5 when 1.6 had been out for months. And then it took us months to get to 2.1!!! That just shows me that Samsung is really not interested in developing and supporting a top-of-the-line phone. HTC has bent over backwards trying to keep Evo owners happy. Some would argue they haven't bent far enough...but they are sure as hell trying. Who got an update the before the phone was even launched??? Then we got an update a few weeks after launch to address initial issues. ANd who got 2.2 first(After of course the people that make the software)??? We did. ACTIONS!!! HTC is on it....Samsung has never proved that they are ON IT!!! And I really don't expect them to.

If by "better" you mean "bigger," then yes its "better." But I doubt anybody would pass on a samoled screen for the Evo.I was thinking the same thing. Plus most reviews still give the edge to the Evo, some have even mentioned the screen even being better.

That means that no one will buy the Evo anymore because the SAMOLED screen is so magical. If by "better" you mean "bigger," then yes its "better." But I doubt anybody would pass on a samoled screen for the Evo.
I just meant most people would prefer a 4.3 inch samoled rather than a tft display. The Evo's screen isn't a slouch and neither is the epic's. Both have their pluses and minuses. That means that no one will buy the Evo anymore because the SAMOLED screen is so magical.
I doubt that will be the case.
Plus, if SAMOLED is so mind blowing, why didn't anyone jump ship to the Vibrant or Captivate already? Obviously, the screen itself is just a piece of the puzzle. No one buys a phone just for the screen. Well, okay, maybe iPhone 4 owners.
The Galaxy owners talk about their SAMOLED screens like the iPhone 4 owners with the Retina Screen. In both cases, they're nice but have drawbacks. But if you listen to them, you'd think we're all going blind looking at LCD screens. Overblown and overhyped.
Honestly, no screen is going to look too great in direct sunlighthow about anybody that works outside?............

I am. I was all hyped all summer for the Epic. Waiting like everyone else for pricing and a release date. We got that...yippie for all. Then 8-31-10 came and I got the Epic day 1. I returned it the next day. Keep in mind I had the instinct when it came out and returned it within 2 weeks. I then got the hero and enjoyed it...except headphone jack problems and speaker...so exchanged it for the moment...loved the moment until all the lock ups and restarts and 20 min to make a call.
So back to current I got the epic...screen is pretty and its fast. Faster then the moment. But that touch wiz had the instinct taste and yes you could turn it off...so yes I am passing up on super amorled for the evo.
Not much promotion for the epic...yes you can watch movies...but you can download a player to play divx...also netflix is coming...why pay or rent movies.... so now I am back to the moment until my evo comes....
Samsung I tried 3 times...htc like I said has claimed another.

Returning something the next day(if you even did what you claimed) is hardly trying, and it seems your only complaint is touchwiz which can be disabled.
Yeah your post = grain of salt.
You can't be serious about the over saturation...

wow, I can actually appreciate the screen on the Samsung a lot more now. But still would have to stick with my Evo because I don't need the keyboard anymore.
