Help X10 2.1 Update - Issues/Problems

after the update to 2.1, this LED notification on email/SMS is working ONLY if the device is at sleep mode. when the screen is on it does not light up unlike in 1.6 even the screen is on the LED notification lights up. Maybe this improvement is a way on conserving some battery life.

are you using the same as i did "setting profiles"?

Hi. Im having the same problem as you guys, about the LED light not functioning with handcent sms. I dnt knw how to fix this. What do you mean by "setting profiles ?" Help please.

It seems now that this problem is not isolated case as it happened to me,

I solved this problem using the 3rd party application "setting profiles". i think this a paid app on the market but there is a lite version that you can use.
first, u need to create an profile, in the profile, which is the majority of the phone setting. mark the star and tick on the "pulse notification light". then activate the profile that you have created. then test your notification LED,
by sending sms to yourself then put the phone to sleep. like what i have said, notification LED works only when the phone is in sleep unlike before in 1.6. when you receive the message, about 4 sec delay, the notification LED should be lighting up.
afterward you can uninstall setting profile app.

i hope this solves your problem.

I've done exactly as you said, i used the full version but still the notification LED didnt light up. I've tried restarting my phone aftr setting the profile and activating it, send sms to myself, send sms using other phone to myself, i also tried re-installing bot 'handcent sms' and 'setting profiles' bt still the LED wont light up :(

what I mean is the messaging app installed on your phone by default.
try to utilize that first,

try the app, Blink - Flash LED in Your Way, it is suggested by rosered but I haven't tried it yet because I can't find it from the market. This app allows you to toggle the LED notification hardware.

Cse im using Handcent too, but the Blink LED for notification isnt functioning. Is yours functioning ?
Good point, it's not. It's not something I bother about so I hadn't noticed.

Hang on, it is working! I sent myself a couple of texts from another phone to test it and no flash. But I'd no sooner pressed the Submit button to post the above when a text came in and the LED started flashing blue, which was what I'd set in Handcent.

Weird.
