Yes. I would but it.
I am not thrilled about it being a Samsung, as the GPS and Navigation of the Galaxy S phone is an utter FAIL.
That said - I will buy the phone, pop in my AT&T simcard and go for it.
If the GPS/Navigation problems are an issue, I will return it and pay the re-stocking fee.

Im pretty happy with the mytouch slide...and if it gets updated to 2.2 as Tmo says it will then ill be happy with it for the next two years. so far the best phone ive had and does everything i want/need. Aside from having a free office suite as the Windows Phones do...

Samsung used a different gps antenna or receiver with this one so their shouldn't be an issue and if there is then thats why phones come with 1 year standard warranty.

Idk, I was all excited when I heard about the Nexus S, but the more I read about it and talk to other about it, the more I really don't want one...There are just so many downfalls I see. The first and foremost is that I really feel that this device was getting pushed out the public prior to the blood-thirsty, crazy, stressed beyond all belief x-mas shoppers and holiday...

i'd buy it if i got att frequencies. I travel alot and my colleague has t-mobile. He was on edge the entire trip and i was on 3G. It's not a change i'm willing to make. I use my phone for tethering out of town b/c the hotels hard line internet is so bad....

I think all of you are pushing the gun on the nexus s lets be honest guys the phone is good!!!! major plus is that it has a fresh install of 2.3 all that do not buy it will have two wait on the carrier to release 2.3 and as i see carriers take for ever i personally like to be at the top of the game not second but that's me and anyways i am sure when the dual cores come out i bet there will be another nexus!!!!!!

I will probably end up keeping my Nexus One.
Not that I wouldn't trade my Nexus One for a Nexus S in a heartbeat, its just that I don't want to take a $230 loss ($350 selling N1 on Craigslist + $230 more for $580 contract free Nexus S price)
I figure even if I was going to buy the Nexus S that I would wait until after CES in January in order to make sure there's no major problems with the Nexus S or nothing amazing on the horizon

Where did you hear or see this info about the Desire HD and the Nexus S.
I'm about to sign with Telus and if none of these phones will come out soon I'll have to with the HTC Desire.

Both of them are not available through the mobile carriers here in Canada, but I never buy a phone from a carrier anyway- it's a total ripoff.
The (unlocked) Desire HD is about 780$ on Ebay or pacific mall (and will not work on 3g, but I only need wifi anyway),
and the (unlocked) Nexus S will be available soon on BestBuy for about 550$ or so.

I have a question for the UK folks. I've only ever got contracts directly, but if you get a contract through Carphone Warhouse (Orange or Vodafone I guess in my case), do you have to keep going through CW for support, or is it just like having a contract directly from the provider?

Been thinking and thinking. As many negs as it has, it will be a kick ass phone.
Since Iphone 4 came out I gave a few androids a shot (Evo, Captivate) and did not like the issues they were having.

I'm planning on getting it. In fact, I'm even planning on leaving AT&T for it.
It definitely underwhelmed me though, but the fact that it's Google's new test platform makes it still worth getting. Plus, I can look past the faults it does have:
No SD slot - I can't really afford to buy an SD card any larger than 8GB, so 16GB of storage is fine with me. I'll probably fill about 8gigs with music and leave the rest for whatever, doing some spring cleaning whenever it gets full.
No LED notification - This bothers me quite a bit actually. There are a lot of times when I don't hear my phone go off, and only catching the notification light in the corner of my eye lets me know that I missed something. Still, there's NoLED in the market, and I'm hoping the mod community will be able to turn the capacitive buttons into a notification light.
No HSPA+ - This one is a bummer, but at the same time, T-Mobile doesn't have 4G where I'm at, and probably won't for a year or so. In the mean time, 3G still gets like 3-7Mbps, which is plenty for mobile stuffs. Reduced latency is the biggest reason to worry about 4G, and HSPA+ doesn't really bring that anyways.
No Dual Core - Since Google will be tailoring all their new apps and features to the Nexus S, it doesn't really matter if it's dual core or not. It'll run everything well, and odds are, Google decided on a single core device because they have no intentions of optimizing Android for multiple cores in the near future.
I always said, "If the Galaxy S just had a flash and working GPS, I'd get it." Well the Nexus S has all of that plus the pure Google experience, so it's a win/win.

Like a lot of people, I am underwhelmed and disappointed in the NS. I am underwhelmed only because I thought it was going to be fully loaded with dual core, 8 MP, SD etc., etc.... And I am disappointed in the lack of HSPA+, since I live where HSPA+ just launched a couple of months ago.
That being said, I am still considering getting one - and will decide come Thursday, when I see one in person. If I get it, it will eventually be my 2nd/or backup phone, as I am sure Tmo will eventually get a loaded phone with the specs I want, and w/HSPA+. Maybe the LG Star? Which is rumored to be a "near" Google experience phone, with HSPA+. So we'll see...
While 16GB is more than enough for me personally, I am actually a little surprised Google went this route, considering Honeycomb is rumored to have Google Music (or whatever they're calling it) within it. If Google didn't want to mess with a SD card, then why not include at least 32GB?
Anyway, for now I think this will be a good phone to have, and I will enjoy getting the latest updates from Google first, as well as having a clean/no carrier crapola on it!
