Who has theirs?

I got mine at opening and it is very nice. Much smoother operation than my nexus one and it is nice to have the extra room for apps without getting a low memory warning. The VoIP seems to work well with gizmo5 over wifi but I haven't spent a ton of time using it.

Assuming I can get a decent amount for my nexus one, I think it is well worth upgrading for me personally.

Eh, picked up a mytouch 4g and have one day to return it. Comparing it to the Nexus S I just picked up, I think I'm going to keep the MyTouch4g. Pretty disappointed. It's light but feels very cheap. BTW anything white is very green.

only thing better is the keyboard IMO.

Thats the super amoled screen for you. And its not meant to be ground breaking by any means it is more for developers rather then general public. Not to mention i would keeo the mt4g over a nexus s anyday

I just got mine. Like everyone has said, it runs much smoother than my Nexus One but I am sure that is due to Gingerbread. The Nexus S downloaded and installed all my apps automatically. That was slick. It is uncanny how it looks like an iphone. I am transferring my files from the SD card on the N1. It says it will take an hour just for my music folder. It is lame that there is no SD slot on the Nexus S. That is my biggest disappointment so far. I have never used a case for a phone before, but I did buy one for this since everyone has been ragging on Samsung's build quality.

Now I can send my Nexus One to HTC to be repaired. Ever since I did a swap when my power button failed, it has been very buggy. The touch screen is all jacked up. I have to reboot it several times a day.

The verdict is still out for the Nexus S. One of the major advantages are the frequencies. I can use it all over the world. If the MyTouch HD would have had just one more band, I might have chosen it.

If something comes out in the next couple of months, I will pass the Nexus S to one of my staff.

these are the reactions that will keep me away from the Nexus S... almost there, but just not quite enough to make me spend the dough to get one (i'd be breaking my at&t contract to do so), and right now, the S just does not have enough "I need it" factor to pull the trigger... sad because I really thought I'd cave on launch day to get one... but that's not going to happen as I read more and more reviews and impressions on it... and especially curious now as to what CES brings to us in Jan '11....

Posting this from my Nexus S. Love it! Waaay better than the MT4G I returned to get it!

Can you help some folks out and maybe explain what you like better about the Nexus S and how it's better.

I have had samsung products in the past and this thing has the same cheap ass glossy plastic finish. they lost me when I had to pry the crappy thin plastic back off. for what it's worth my Nexus one is way better built.

I can tell you for sure that the MT4G has a stronger wifi signal. the NS was +10bd.

Gingerbread is the biggest disappointment... Nothing steller IMO. Yes a bit faster, although the drawer is a little glitchy out of the gate.

I have an accout with Gizmo5. Can you tell me how you setup the VOIP?
Thank you.

Thank you.

If you go to settings/call settings/Accounts (under internet call settings), you can plug in your SIP credentials. You can also set it to receive calls, which is how I used it (by calling from google voice's standard web site).

Not something I plan on using other than when I'm out of the country or can't get a cell signal, but seems to be more streamlined and easier to set up than sipdroid.

EDIT: I should mention that this only works over WIFI.

everyone keeps talkign about the cheap plastic, but does no one realize the N1 had serious antenna issues b/c it was "more solid"? I'm playing w/ my N1 now and i'd take better reception over some metal and soft touch anyday...

functionality please, you prisses can squawk all you want about the plastic but it's a functional issue.

I thought the reception issue was because the antenna was located at the bottom, where most people hold the phone and cover that area up.

This was indeed the problem. I would just turn the phone upside down and got better reception. BTW, the N1 had dual microphones for noise cancelation and an FM receiver that could be accessed once rooted.

This thing is a bit of a disappointment and I am sure, much of it came down to manufacturing costs. Who knows, the cheap plastic may hold up... I doubt it, but it sure does help with the weight.

The Nexus S also had twice the standby, my guess is this has much to do with hummingbird.

UPDATE: Been using it all day. Smooth sailing so far. I do miss the trackball that was on my N1. With no green glow to notify me of texts, I am not sure if there is a reason to have Chomp. Other than the notification sound and the brief moment the screen comes on, I have no idea that I have received a message. Also I miss the little LED that glowed yellow when charging and green when fully charged.

Hm if that's the case, is it any different than the iphone antenna thing???

Yes, i4 antenna is part of the metal frame. I don't really remember the technicalities but when you hold the iphone, your hand wraps around the antenna meta bezel. Your fingers act like a conductive object and interfere with the reception/signal.

With the Nexus One, you just block some of the signal because the antenna is located at the bottom and how you naturally hold the phone. Most phones have the antenna at the top.
