Weird, I am getting a " "adb" is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"
I'm in the right directory, tried it in a few directories (unzipping to new dir) to no avail.
Suggestions?
UPDATE: If it says adb not found or something similar, download the ADB files and extract them into the Tools folder of the SDK (they were taken out by Google in the R08 version for some reason and need to be put back).
Thanks to everyone here for continuing to update things!
This was asked several times earlier in this forum, but since that time Froyo has come along, and the other messages seem pretty dated. I'm an extreme r00t n00b, so a couple of questions:
If I want to unroot after using this method and having Froyo, how do I do that?
Once rooted, will my Droid1 automatically have a CPU overclock app on it or do I need to download something?
If I'm not planning to flash a new ROM, other than overclocking and doing a full system backup, are there any other advantages to being rooted?
Thanks in advance!
Sorry to hear this, after your PM I searched this thread and found this same problem and it seemed as though the guy had fixed it, starting here (the link below is for a specific place in this thread):Ok guys and gals,
I'm taking the plunge and trying this.
Everything is fine until step 10. When I try the enter the chmod command (yes, exactly like it says) I get: No such file or directory.
Any ideas.
If you don't like something such as your battery icon, you can easily change it.
Is that something included in a custom ROM, or are there apps to do that sort of thing?
One more question: I was going to do a nandroid backup today (post-rooting), but when I booted into Recovery mode, there was no "backup/restore" option available. Only:
- Reboot system now
- Apply sdcard: update.zip
- wipe data/factory reset
- wipe cache partition
- wipe baseband data
What do I do now?
You are still on the stock recovery. You need to flash either clockworkmod recovery or SPRecovery. Both are available in rom manager

Hmmm... Downloaded RomManager and only saw the availability of Clockworkmod. I tried flashing that and got "An error occurred while flashing Clockworkmod Recovery."
That happened my first time too. Just try again.
Thanks to you all for putting up with the n00bs. I tried it again and it worked just fine. WHEW!
Am I understanding correctly, that once you flash clockworkmod (which I have) you will lose the stock recovery and when you press power + x it will boot directly into clockworkmod?
Same thing for the \sufailed to copy 'c:\droidroot\Superuser.apk' to '/system/app/Superuser.apk' : Read-only file system.
