List your biggest complaints about Thunderbolt

All I know better phones bigger batteries in a couple of weeks so no biggie have fun being stuck with that two year with 2 hrs of on time haha

LOL... ok so since you don't know how to use your phone, and yes if you were only getting 2 hrs of on time with the TB then that WAS your fault. You think everyone is having that? Let me give you some facts, I unplug my phone at 7:30 am and leave for work, I come home from work at 4:30 and I'm still at 65%. That is using the phone like a smartphone, no turning off 4G or using wifi.

Sure and what was your on time lol. Half hour. I need my phone for me business clients so i actually use my phone unlike mostpeople that have smartphones and turn them on and then don't use them the whole day why spend that much money if you don't even need it.. the people that have battery problems are the people that need it for work or own a business people without battery problems are the people that turn them on in the morning then dont use them but feel cool because they have a smartphine... and I am in this forum because i had one but returned it because of how crappy of a product it is and letting people on the fence to stay away and wait better phones ina month that are usable and designed by actual engineers HTC still not up to par with the real leaders in the cell phone industry

I dont think you know what I mean what on time is.... so in order to reply you should comprehend wat I am saying. Not the time unplugged from charger but the time screen was on der der

LOL nice try, I use my phone all day. I don't buy a smart phone not to use it, so no my on time is not half an hour. I'm sorry that you didn't like your TB. However it is not a crappy product by any strech of the imagination.

What you are doing isn't constructive and you aren't helping anyone. You are coming in here and trying to spread your opinion as fact because you had a bad unit. When I was in the store buying my TB a guy was in there returning his X (you know that device you think is perfect) for the 3rd or 4th time. He said it was the worst phone he ever owned.

Now should I go tell everyone that the X is a horible product and no one should buy it? I knew a couple people that had to return their OG Droids at least 4 times before they got a good one. Would you say the Droid was a horible product and no one should buy one?

Any device is going to have bad units, it is what happens when you manufacture things. You are seeing complaints by a minority of people on a forum (which is a minority of overall users in the first place).

The phone is fine.

I dont think you know what I mean what on time is.... so in order to reply you should comprehend wat I am saying. Not the time unplugged from charger but the time screen was on der der

I know exactly what on time is... I'm sorry that you are simply looking for a fight here. This is not my first smartphone, nor is it my first Android. I know how the phone works and how Android works. As you can see by my post history I try to help when I can, and I think that history should speak to how much I actually know.

My appologies to EarlyMon and the mods for continuing this but I can not simply allow you to slander me by stating I do not know what I'm talking about. This will be my last statement to you on this matter.

Really - this has gone beyond warning others per your personal opinion and has moved into badgering, and that's not really necessary.

HTC has real engineers and their phones - just like those from Samsung, LG, and even Motorola - have issues from time to time.

Let's remember - the original G1 Android was an HTC phone and plenty of people are still rocking those and loving it.

As for calling people out - as opposed to attacking the issues at hand - I suggest anyone with any doubt at all on that point review our guidelines and policies, courtesy of the links in my sig. ;)

Do we really need a thread like this? Its a magnet for counter productiveness. It serves nothing to have a thread focused on negative things, with no counter balance of positive. It just leads to bickering. For example.

1)"Man, I just returned the thunderbolt today because the screen sucks. No where near the quality of my old phone."

2)Well you must be blind because my thunderbolt's screen looks great, maybe you should get your eyes checked.

1) First of all I'm grown, and have 20/20 vision, I can clearly see that the screen sucks. Don't get mad at me that you live in a cave and can't see what is right in front of you.

2) Well I have the thunderbolt right in front of me and the screen looks vibrant and clear. Maybe you need to get your eye's check by a real doctor, not a fake one like the ones in wall-mart.

3)Me>:thinking::rolleyes:......reading this garbage ^^^, that serves no purpose, for anyone in this thread.

Without an intellectual thread that post both the pros and the cons in a constructive manner, but instead posts just cons is nothing but a bait thread that serves nothing.

IMO we should move on and close this useless thread.

But this thread has sticky.

I do agree with you though, these threads do become a magnet for bickering. it does one really nice thing though, it keeps there from being 20 new complaint threads a day. I am new here, so I don't know if normal Internet rules apply, but normally when something new appears complaint threads rule the forums for a long while.

Fallout: New Vegas springs to mind. You could see 6-7 threads with almost exactly the same complaint in the title on the first page for a few weeks. I haven't seen too much of that here.

Where have "smartphone users" been for the past couple of years regarding cell phone batteries. Go to the iphone 4 forum and you will hear people complaining about the battery on the phone. I really dislike when people tell me they tweaked their phone. I go into their phone and their is tons of apps doing their own thing. Yet, I was told the person tweaked their phone. Actually, I think I flew from Kyrgyzstan to the states on my stock EVO battery, then switched to my 1750mah the next day. I'm for certain that's what I did. Stock battery works just fine for an overseas trip.

The iPhone 4 by virtue of how it handles multitaskingand power management, is reported to get over 24 hours. My friends have all confirmed this. It probably gets the best life of any smartphone right now with stock battery.

You cannot compare the battery life of a phone that does true multitasking to a phone that doesn't. Also, iphones do not run flash, which requires battery power. Last, if you go to the Apple forum people complain about the iphone battery as well. Every user is different in regard to how they use their phone. You cannot compare HTC EVOs/Thunderbolts to iphones. Give the iPhone the ability to run flash, animated backgrounds, and perform true multitasking then we can talk.

I agree with you but then again you can use that argument between any two phones that are not the same model.

Just switched from BBerry a week ago, and absolutely love the Tbolt. But.....Just got a google apps email address working today, and it took forever (gmail was much easier). VZW tech support was useless - told me to check w/the administrator to get the setting. Ended up finding the solution online, and had to use IMAP instead of pop settings. Guess this was more an android/vzw issue rather than Tbolt, though.

Tried the video yesterday, and it picked up almost no volume, even at close range. Wasn't able to find any settings on it. Will check later when I get time, but if it can't be adjusted, the audio is virtually useless. Kind of odd - seems when I was checking specs a while back, that it has 3 mics(??). Or maybe I've got a defective unit - haven't heard anyone else complain about it.

And the battery life is an issue- big beautiful display eats most of it. You can tweak to improve, but it won't be great. Maybe an OS upgrade is forthcoming. And it takes a long time to charge, too.

All in all, I love the phone. Lightning fast, great interface, everything. Hopefully there'll be a quick fix for the videocam volume.

The videocam volume is indeed a known issue that HTC is working on.

i'm not so sure this is an issue in the sense it's being discussed here. it seems the sound primarily being captured is whatever is being picked up from the main mic on the bottom of the phone. since that mic isn't aimed at the subject being recorded it's not going to do much good at recording their sound. however, you'll notice it picks up your sound or whoever is holding the phone pretty well.

as for the mic on the back of the phone right above the flash...i don't think that one is intended for picking up audio very well. that one seems designed to work as the noise canceling mic. the noise canceling mic picks up ambient noise and reduces the sensitivity of the primary mic when it doesn't detect someone speaking into the primary mic. that way the person on the other end doesn't hear wind or other background noise fed into the main mic.

in either case i'd be interested to see how/if HTC really proposes a "fix" for this. there's two things they could potentially do. 1) increase the sensitivity of the main mic when the phone detects it's recording. 2) increase the sensitivity of the noise canceling mic when the phone is recording. even then, not so sure how high quality of a mic the noise canceling one is. if it was never intended to record audio anything it does pick up would probably be pretty muffled.

^there is a way to test this. i called my desk phone from my TB, and ran my finger over the main mic. you could hear that clearly. then i ran my finger over the noise canceling mic which was much less obvious and muffled.

all that said, i wouldn't put any high hopes on a "fix" for the recording volume. you may just have to put your hand on the bottom of the phone and use it as a "dish" aiming it towards the subject to pick up their sound better.

I highly agree with this.

The iPhone 4, with all its glory, should be able to handle TRUE multitasking, flash, with no issues greater than the EVO/Thunderbolt or any other Android phone.

So why does it not have these features? Either Jobs is that stubborn, or Apple has still not found a way of implimenting these features without it severely compromising battery and stability.

What happens if/when the iPhone does incorporate these features and it cuts battery life in half? The iPhone users would go ballistic.

Screen brightness is a battery factor. However, by utilizing a dark background will save you battery power. In my opinion, the sensor for the screens works to hard adjusting the brightness.

Either bad battery, poor coverage area, using a task killer, or an app is causing your problem.

Still doing it after a factory-reset with no apps installed.

I have cleaned the battery connections with electrical contact cleaner (I am a high-voltage electrician for a power-plant so I know what I'm doing there). And the signal at work sux, but I have strong 4GLTE at home, and it's rebooting at home and at work.

I think it's a hardware issue.
And I just got off the phone with Verizon Customer Service, and they are sending me a new Thunderbolt without even attempting to troubleshoot my problem. Sounds like they think it's a hardware issue too.

For the EVOs it was typically bad battery or poor coverage areas and the phone would shut down on people. Hope your new phone is problem free.

Maybe that is true, but can you fathom any possible reason a weak signal should shut the phone down? If so, that is a very poor design.

More than likely that was a symptom of whatever was faulting and causing the shutdown.

No telling what's what when the hardware is screwy, it's just crazy-making to try. ;)
