Root Not able to SBF my DX

I am having problems in doing an SBF.
At first I thought it was a problem with Vista so I loaded RSD Lite on to an XP PC.
I loaded drivers Motorola_End_User_Driver_Installation_05_11_10_32 bit_4.6.0
I tried RSD Lite versions 4.7 with patch, 4.8 and 4.9
4.9 definitely did not work. 4.7 and 4.8 shows on line 1, Model=S Flash OMAP3630MI Port No.=1 Port Type=USB IMEI/ESN/MEID N/A Status Connected the rest of the columns are blank.
When I Highlight the line Device properties shows some infomation but most of it has N/A displayed after the description.

My DX boot loader is 30.04

The SBF file that I have tried to load is VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.sbf

I would have used CW to recover but it will not come up due to a factory reset procedure.
I can access the SD card through the phone if this helps.
I looked at the SBF logs and they give me the impression that the phone is not responding to commands issued by RSD Lite. Now being able to read and write to the SD card leads me to believe the drivers are working.
When trying to load the SBF the program just sits there and I let it go for an hour on each upload try.
Needless to say I stumped with this one.

At the moment I do not have a computer setup with Linux. I could install it on a system this weekend. I will have a replacement DX tomorrow then I have 10 days to get the old one back to Verizon.
What is the killer is I had replaced the Moto boot logo and the it is coming up when the phone boots up.
My return reason is that the screen only works on the top half, the bottom half is bad and displays streaks.

I can't help much with windows but have you tried using linux to sbf?

+1 on that.. the linux way is super easy.. just plug your phone in and enter a few commands.

OPTICALDELUSION: sbf_flash

you might be able to use ubuntu live cd, without actually installing linux to your harddrive. But I never tried it with a live cd, I have a full install, so dont quote me on that..

Which flavor of Linux? I used to have Debian on my old box and have looked at Mint Linux. I'm sorta on the fence as to which way to go. My new box has been sitting with windows on it and I have not loaded anything on it due to it being wiped for Linux. My plans for it is to do development but if I need to put Linux on it too fix my DX I will fast track it.

Thanks for the link

+1 ...I have never tried from a live cd but I think for sbf to execute your system would have to mount which a live cd does not do ...not positive though

Mint would work cause its built from Ubuntu.. Ubuntu is built from Debian so I'm sure Debian would work also.

I used Ubuntu 10.10 to flash.

Sorry for delay had an Emergency at work and had to go up a 1070 Ft tower.
I think I'm going to try Mint. I managed to DL it. I will burn a DVD sometime today.
Last night I managed to get the DX back to stock but I don't have the Moto Meatball coming up. So I rooted it and installed CW Recovery. I will if time permits today change the boot meatball back to the Moto one. Then I will get the SBF file that works with CW. I just need a link for that.

If all that doesn't pan out then I will move faster on Mint Linux.

I also got last night my free Verizon Network extender. I got it free due to all of my complaints so they gave it to me to shut me up!:D
I hooked it up and it worked for 30 Min then the sys led started blinking again.:( I found that it has problems with some Routers so I will have to set it up between my router and DSL modem. I think that will fix it.

My replacement DX should be in tomorrow. :D

Yea my DX to return to Verizon is now fully stock!!!:D
Since I took notes I will do a writeup as to what I did.
It was a bit of a pain since the DX only displayed half a screen.
This weekend I will setup that rack mount PC that I have for Linux.
I think my problems would have been much easier to deal with in the long run.

My wife also contacted me that my replacement DX arrived along with my new Viewsonic G Tablet. :D
The DX will be a breeze to get going since I have a 5 day old nandroid.
Thank goodness that I make frequent backups and with the DX dieing I wasn't that upset.

Thanks Guys for the suggestions and help!
