i have been one of the biggest people on this site telling everyone that you cannot get insurance with tmobile. and that was true untill today.

asurion had an internal memo go out saying that they will be honoring a new phone that just came out for tmobile. yesterday they said they were not, and today they are. so get the insurance everyone who wants it. i had ordered mine from square trade but the limitatons are: no loss or theft coverage and it is only for two years, where with tmobile as long as you keep paying you get the insurance. but i doubt most n1 users will keep their phones past two years. it seem like we all probably like the newest products. there is a deductible with tmobile of $130 if you damage or lose the phone, and there is a $50 deductible with square trade, but they only cover up to $399. so figure the deductible with square is about $180. you pay no deductible with either company if it is a warranty issue, but tmobile will replace the phone with no charge and square will give you $399 which is like $130 deductible. but i dont know how tmobile will give you a phone if they dont sell it. this could be an issue.

asurion also says that if something were to happen to your phone they replace it with a comparable phone if they dont have the n1, but they are supposed to be getting the n1 by next month to start handling future claims. this is direct from asurion. but they did say that tmobile is also supposed to be getting them for the warranty issues, but that is said from asurion not tmobile. tmobile actually said as of right now they are unaware of what is going to happen with warranty claims. but for that you still have a year from the manufacturer, i think tmob can figure things out by then.

important to remember tmobile handles warranty - screen goes out, battery issues, speaker problems. whereas asurion handle insurance - damage loss theft etc. tmobile waranty 1.99 a month asurion insurance $4 dollars a month. can be purchased together or seperate.

if you read my earlier posts dont yell at me about them, it was true up untill today.

Sorry, don't mean to call you a liar, but I called Tmo yesterday and they sold me coverage, called them today, said they're not covering it. Now you are saying they will after saying they wouldn't. I don't know what is true.

Can you provide any proof? Did Asurion send you an email? Could we see a copy of that?

I just want to be sure if I'm risking having to pay $530 if I'm wrong. Thanks for your research, btw.

I posted it about this the other day. I work for T-Mobile and my boss's, boss's boss (LOL) told us that Asurion will cover the device, but it has to be the $4.79 PHP Insurance, not the $5.99 PHP Bundle...

the bundle is both warranty and insurance. they are still seperate. tmob=warrany asurion=insurance. the phone is on $4.79 even with the bundle. tmob is giving you a $.79 bundle package discount. but they still pay asurion the same thing. why...because assurion also pays tmobile a part of the insurance protection money.

think about it...if you only get tmob warranty only tmob makes $1.99

if you get only the php, tmob gets a percentage or a kick back of the $4.79.

this is why if you buy them both together tmobile will give you a discount, because they make it up with the percntage or kick back from asurion. and by offering a bundle more people will buy it.

asurion dosent care which plan you are on. they are still getting paid.

this is buisness 101.

So if its on ATT is there a privite insurance or any alternative ?

alternative is square trade. the only limitations is that it only lasts for two years, there is no loss/theft protection, and they only cover up to $399 with a $50 deductible on damage (not on warranty issues).

plan is well priced. $76+tax.

all in all it is a great alternative simply because it is better than nothing.
