It doesn't matter what operating system they put on it. I'm happy with what I got now, and if I get sick of it well then I guess ill get something new.... like the evo 3d when it comes out. But I can swap roms on this no prob. And I know developer gb roms aren't as good as a manufacturers. Its real close I'm sure and I really don't think its that great over 2.2 right now, just different. But ill for sure be waiting until 3d has full root before I even consider buying it. Which will more than likely only be five minutes after it comes out anyway.

Awesome. I just can't Imagine them taking the time to make GB work with an older Sense version. I can bet that GB is kind of a package offer. You get Sense 2.0 & GB no questions asked.

i believe that the most current version of sense is 3.0, which is what the evo 3d will be shipping with.. someone correct me if im wrong

Developers are already working on Sense 2.0 for the new leak that dropped today. I am running the leak now and it's pretty flawless and running really good. That with the new Sensation wallpapers and it feels like a new phone....sorta

What's the difference between that (2.0?) and new sense on the 3d (3.0?) I'm really looking for the home screen rotation and the navigation/call split screen.

Not 100% but sense 2.0 is like what is on the desire z HD and maybe the shift. Landscape sense and the new sense themes. I think it is lacking a lot from sense 3.0 but still an upgrade from what we have. Its nice for those who like sense but would like to change up the colors.

Just wanted to know if anyone knows weather 2.3 will finally and should have a mouse pointer for BT mouse. I have been looking at the Atrix's ability to turn into a desktop computer with its dock but there are people already doing this with CM6 Mod of course on the Evo. You also need a dock, FULL HDMI out app, LCD density changer and Android 7 which is just badass. But of course you have to have root for this to work. So I figured since we should be seeing 2.3 very soon I hoping they would have been smart enough to make the proper code to finally get a mouse pointer so we can also have the amazing ability like the atrix.

Heres the vid

As of yesterday and the day before the Samsung Fascinate on Verizon - you know, one of the "Evo killers" - was finally getting its first official update to Froyo. (We were the first to get it besides the Nexus phone.)

And while Gingerbread has been out - from where I sit just reading things (and CM7 users are free to argue) - 2.3 has had some significant problems. No surprise that vendors are slow to roll it out.

So far as I can tell, the only non-Nexus phone to get GB has been the Droid X has gotten Gingerbread officially as an update and that was only within the last few weeks.

Even the Nexus One only GB fairly recently.

And - let's be fair - it's been 8.5 months, not a full year, since we got Froyo.

And Gingerbread itself has only existed in the wild (starting on the Nexus S) for 4 months.

So - saying we've been waiting since June for it is technically true - as is the fact that I've been waiting for Tiramisu since October. ;) :)

Chin up compadre - the more you use an Evo the more you like it - it's not the newest anymore - but it's still a rocking beast. :)

This thread started in June of 2010. It is more than a little silly that Evo users are still running 2.2.

I bought my Evo a couple of weeks ago because I lost my Blackberry and I've admired the phone. I have to admit to slight buyer's remorse that it is not further along as a platform ... and seems to be on the way out.

hi and welcome..

you got a phone that is almost a year old...
the new one will drop in a few months..
and you have buyer's remorse.. because it is old..

question.. was it a surprise?

I'm a computer guy more than a phone person. My blackberry was *almost* computer-like. The Evo is the first real computer/phone I've owned. I love my 2 year old MBP and I expect to get at least another good 18 months out of it. I guess I'm a little early to the game where I can expect my phone to to be as future-adaptable as a laptop. I'm loving this phone, btw.

Really, the Evo is still one of the top phones out there and any phone approaching a year old is technically "on the way out" since new models arrive on a yearly basis or shorter.

I am still on the fence as to whether I will upgrade or not, but if I don't I will feel no remorse in keeping my Evo another year. Rest assured you made a good purchase.
