Hi all. I've just had my desire s for a few days. I'm loving it but I've noticed that the keyboard is the 2.2 version, and looks exactly the same as the keyboard on my brother's desire (original keyboard). I've checked my android version and it is 2.3.3 and I can't find any option for the new keyboard in the settings. Any ideas?

On a side note, when I browse the web (I'm using opera mobile) and I fill in a text search field, sometimes websites don't have a dedicated 'search' button so relies on the user pressing the enter key on the keyboard to initiate the search. The enter key on phone keyboard just brings you out of the text field. So is there any way to initiate a search like pressing the enter key on a real keyboard?

Thanks in advance

Luke

the Desire S has HTC Sense so even though its Gingerbread you will still Have the the old keyboard you always get with Sense. But if you want the Gingerbread keyboard go to the market and search for "Keyboard from Android 2.3 Gingerbread" and install it. I much prefer it to the Sense keyboard. Hope this helps! :D

On the HTC Sense keyboard it has a convenient key to put the keyboard away (bottom left). Is there anything like this with the Gingerbread keyboard?

How do I get rid of it off the screen once I've finished typing?

don't know whether this works in Gingerbreak keyboard, as I use Swype for input myself, but how about the back <- button (this works in this way when I use Swype).
