News Widget deletes itself after turning off phone

Hi everyone,

I'm a new android user and Samsung Infuse is my first smartphone ever. So far everything is great and I really love this phone! however the only problem I've been having is that my widget for the "business insider" app dissappears whenever I turn off my phone and turn it back on again. And when I try to add it back the option to add the business insider widget dissapears and I would have to reinstall the entire app in order to put them back on the homescreen. I am not sure what's going on and I am really frustrated, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

I have seen that type of behavior when a widget is installed to the SD card rather than phone memory. If you have the widget running properly, got to menu>settings>applications>manage applications and select the running tab. scroll to the widget and click on it. If "move to phone" is an option, click that.

Widgets and services always need to be installed to the phone memory and not run from the SD card.

Hi Lunatic,

Thanks for your reply and help. I tried what you did and unfortunately the same exact thing happens as soon as i moved it into the phone. The widget disappears and it no longer becomes an option when I try to add widgets to my homescreen. Is there perhaps anyway to directly install it onto the phone so that I don't have to manually transfer it? Thanks again for your help,I really appreciate it!

Have you rooted your phone or otherwise modified it so that the default app location is not the phone's internal storage? If not could you let me know which version of Android you have?

Just to be clear, Business Insider is the app/widget you are talking about. If you have no luck, I'll give the widget a try to see if I can recreate your situation.

Nope, I haven't rooted it or done anything to it to make it install on the SD card, it seems to automatically do so. I checked my other apps and it seems like most are installed directly on the phone, but there are a few that were installed onto the SD card by default (one of them is NewsRepublic, which also has the same problem apparently).

My current android version is 2.2.1 and Business Insider is the app that I'm concerned with. I hope this information helps, thanks!
