What retailer will you be buying your Evo 3D from?

Can I get sprint insurance through Amazon? Can I purchase this without a contract, and then just bring it into a Sprint store to activate at my leisure?

Yes you can buy it from Amazon at full price and then take it to the Sprint store to activiate. But you won't get any discounts. You have to sign a 2 year agreement at the time of purchase in order to get the discounted price.

You handle the Sprint insurance with Sprint when you activate it.

My plan is to see if I can grab one during the early sale on the 21st. If not, then I'll use my pre-order option at Best Buy on the 24th. If they don't have one I'll check my local store(s). If they don't have any, then I'll look at Wirefly or Amazon.

But I don't think we'll have a shortage like the EVO 4G

You mean discounts on service? What sort of discounts on service can do they offer on contract? Forgive me if this is available somewhere.. Does anyone have a link for per-month service prices vs contract per-month prices?

Prices don't differ from contract to month-per-month, IIRC. The contract just specifies that you agree to the TOS and that you are committing to a specified contract length.

Oh, ok, that's what I was trying to avoid. I don't care about buying the phone upfront. It lets me upgrade easier in the future without an early term fee. I currently have a Nexus One purchased that way. However, T-mobile will charge you less per-month if the phone is unsubsidized vs subsidized. I did the math and you eventually come out on top the unsubsidized route. If Sprint charges the same either way, then there's less of a benefit to purchasing unsubsidized. I'd probably keep the phone for 12-15 months, any idea what the early term fees or early upgrade options are?

The only reason I'd want to be on contract was to be locked into a pricing or unlimited data scheme unless they ever try to change it.

So let me get this straight, in order to get the $125 port in credit, you must sign up a new 2-yr contract via Sprint? Can this be done via third parties like Radio Shack or Amazon?

Also, if you have discount on monthly plans, does it have to be through Sprint? If you get 20% off through your employer, can you sign up the contract via Amazon?

I'm planning on ordering from Amazon (lower price + no tax) and then getting the 2 year warranty from Square Trade. Hopefully they'll have another 30% off discount from now until my eligibility is up, which should save quite a bit of money over the Sprint warranty (and it covers water damage too!)

I've heard good things about square trade, but I'm wondering: is it just a warranty, or full insurance?

I am not sure now...I got a refund from BB 2 days ago...

I was thinking target but now I might go to my old trusty site wirefly friends and family $149.99

HTC EVO 3D for Sprint - Wirefly Friends and Family Store
Are there any restrictions on purchasing through the Friend and Family store? That's a nice price :). I may as well buy it there and just spend my $50 giftcard from radioshack on other things. It's all be the same price in the end.

Walmart got their shipment in early,so they started selling the Sensation wayyyyy before launch date. I wonder if theres any chance the same would happen with the Evo 3D.

However, I'm thinking with so many purchasing the Sensation well before launch date, that HTC won't ship Walmart the Evo 3D early. What do you guys think?

I think it is up to Sprint when the retailers can sell the phones. If Sprint gives them the OK, then WalMart may do it.

Do I think Sprint is going to do that? No. I think they want to leave the early sales for Premier customers online. Then everyone else launches on Friday.

tmo didnt give walmart the go head. Walmart was selling them b/c they had them on hand and wasnt honoring the street date. I'm hoping they will do the same with the Evo 3d. lol

If you don't buy much from RS and want to get rid of your gift card, Cardpool.com offers $39 in an Amazon GC.

If you choose free FedEx I don't think you will get it on Saturday the 25th. They have options for faster shipping.

When I go through the process of ordering it via WireFly or Amazon Wireless, it asks me about what plan I want to choose. I already checked that this was an extension but it still asks about what plan I want.

I don't need Amazon or Wirefly messing anything up with my plan/setup.

Not sure what plan you have, but if it's SERO don't take a chance and just go to the Sprint store or online. It costs more, but in the long run its worth it.
