New update for evo shift

Well, I loaded it last night and so far I have not seen Sense reload at all. I've tried to make it do it by loading up lots of apps, but so far Sense has not reloaded. So here's to hoping.

I will say if it does fix the Sense reloading 'MAJOR' bug that HTC and Sprint need to work on their Press Blog announcements if it did include some other fixes like this one. Also, why didn't the Sprint Twitter feed announce anything? They've been Tweeting a lot of updates to other phones recently, but hush-hush on this update to the Shift.

I also downloaded the update after getting a refurbished phone from Sprint. I have seen the loading screen twice BUT i was pounding the internet browser by downloading articles. I have also been avoiding the homescreen button and am backing out of programs using the 'back' key. That being said, one of the two times i saw the loading screen happened after i accidently pressed the homescreen button in the middle of downloading a website, this leads me to beleive that this is still a problem, we will see.

My phone says that there are NO firmware updates available? I checked and I only have 2.76.651.4 now.

Do I have to do something so I can receive the update? I'm having so many problems since the 2.3 update, I used to love my phone but now it"s so frustrating to use, I hate it!

You need to hit the htc software button to get the update.
It should be a few buttons down from the firmware update one.

Long time lurker, just came to check up on the loading screen issue, and saw this thread. Going for it now. Normally I'd wait, but it can't get much worse. I took all the steps and performed all the tricks from every corner of the internet, and nothing stopped it for me. Someone suggested it was due to the SD card, and when I started paying attention I realized that it started happening upon accessing the card (updating, installing, running an app). My phone would be fine until then. I've waited for weeks for the fix and am THISCLOSE to running my phone over. I'm a patient girl, but this is really starting to get unbearable.

Anyway, just wanted to say, thanks for a great forum and thanks for this post! Keeping my fingers crossed.

I have a similar thread, and seeing the nature of this one, I thought I should mention my experiences. My first Shift began to be unmanageable and hideously frustrating after downloading Gingerbread right after it came out. I was finally given a refurbished pre-Gingerbread Shift, since my first one appeared to be demon possessed. Things were fine, but every few days I got the message asking if I wanted to update. I went in and asked the Shift guru at my Best Buy if this was a Sense update I was being asked about or Gingerbread, whose mere name causes me to injure myself. He said he thought it was Sense, but afterwards, not only had my Sense updated, but my Android version was now the Gingerbread version by version number. I am having those ridiculous loading problems again. When I hang up after a phone call, it goes back to the HTC loading screen, and also after I properly exit many other apps. I called HTC, but got the same worthless answer as 6 weeks ago, check our website. I would stay away from the update like I should have until you see Gingerbread Fix in 6 in. high letters in this forum.

You should have asked here what the update was. We probably could have told you it was 2.3.

Just an fyi, i havent had a single glitch in anything in several weeks. And yes i have gingerbread, and yes I installed the new update

I wish I could say the same thing. Mine has gotten progressively worse and this newest update doesn't seem to have made a difference. I now see the loading screen at least a dozen times a day, and now it stays loading for at least a minute every time.

a bit surprised you folks are still having this loading problem. I had it when I first updated to gingerbread a few weeks ago, but a few minutes surfing the web gave me the answer. just go to settings/power and uncheck fast boot.this fixed it right away.i was even able to go back afterwards and recheck it later with no problems.hope that helps.

I did uncheck the fast reboot and it would still occur after returning to home from certain apps, market or browsing. It would be better after rebooting but still occur. It has been better ever since I cleared my sense cache which will cause you to have to reset up all your home screens...but it still occurred. At the Sprint store yesterday the manager told me that to correct it I would have to do a factory reset. Before I go through that pain can someone tell me if that works. Without root and Titanium Backup that would be painful.

Please advise.

Fast boot cut it in half, but it still happens. I don't just mean a couple times a day, either. It's any time I access anything on my SD card, which is a hundred times a day. It's not the SD card itself, I've tried different brands.
