LED Notification Light Discussion Thread

Was anybody able to confirm if the LED light should go on when charging (regardless of the phone being on or off).

According to the user manual, the LED is supposed to light up solid white, but I just tried it (whle plugged into the PC for charging) and didn't see the LED come on at all.

It's really not that big a deal to me because one of the battery widgets I use has modification settings for the widget to change color when the battery is fully charged (plus it has the full percentage showing), but figured I'd bump the thread anyway to see if anybody had been paying attention for this.

I'd also like to know, just in case I need to get my phone replaced for defective hardware parts.

Mine kept doing it for days. Regardless of signal. I figured out the issue - it was the calendar widget. As soon as I removed it from the home screen it stopped doing this. I did not have any appointment reminders coming up, and no appointments for 2 days.

I re-added the widget and it has not happened again, but this is still really annoying. I hate this blur UI.

Mine started doing the same thing after putting the message widget on the home page. I removed it and the blinking so far has stopped.

I put my widget words for friends on the front page and the game stopped updating. So I tried making a shortcut to words for friends instead and it works.

So I guess it's better to make a shortcut to things instead of moving the widgets onto the front page. Just like a computer, you can't just move a program that's been installed elsewhere, it won't work. Not sure why they give you the option of moving things that will break.

I too noticed my green notification light start to blink a couple of days ago. I had no messages so I sent myself an email....waited until the phone noticed it...then I opened the email and let the phone 'clear' the notification light. Each time I do this it works.

I am still waiting for the Proximity sensor to work too!!!!!

Well just did the update, and the notif. light still comes on and off randomly.

(edit)

*Sorta fixed* Just pulled down the notification menu, just to make sure that there was nothing there....and there wasn't! But when I turned the screen off...no light. So "at the moment" just pulling down your notification menu...some how clears its...cache..who knows..its stopped the light from blinking for no reason.

The one thing I want to have function with the LED notification light is have it turn on while charging, just like the EVO did. I've been searching for an app in the market forever that will do this, but still haven't found one that'll just keep the LED on (solid orange while charging and solid green when fully charged). Or even if it'll allow to set different colors. I just want to be able to have that thing on (not blinking) when I'm plugged into a charger.

Looks like an interesting App for controlling your LED notifications. Try it out and report your findings!

Light Flow - LED Control
I can report that this app works on the Photon 4G, in fact it works very well. :D

But you have to be rooted, and the leds only work when the display is off.

Tested the following colors
Yellow = Missed call
Calendar reminder = Orange
Email = Lime
Enhanced Email = Bright pink
InoMail = Cyan
K9 = Not tested
MailDroid = Not tested
Moxier mail = not tested
Yahoo mail = Blue
SMS = Magenta
MMS = White
Gmail = Green
Low Battery = Red
Bluetooth On = Blue
Charged Battery = Not Tested
Charging Battery = Not tested
Google Talk = Yellow
Ebay = not tested

Colors available are Blue, Bright Pink, Cyan Deep Orange, Gold, Green, Indigo,
Red, Green, Purple, Lilac, Magenta, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, Sky Blue, Turquoise, White and Yellow.
The app was able to know that the phone was a Motorola device and gave a compatibility message stating...
We have detected you are using a Motorola device.
Most Motorola phones have good color support, but not all colors are available, for example pink, skyblue and white are not available on most phones).

Notes:
1-The SMS led notification includes support for Handcent, Chomp, Go SMS and SMS popup.
2-You can also give a led notification to any contact from your contact list.
3-You can set the led flash speed from very slow up to always on.
4-There is a Wimax control as well but its not enabled for some reason (maybe the paid version enables it)
5-There is a setting that allows you to put all notifications to sleep at a certain time of day (or night)
6-Also a setting to switch it off when in charge mode.
7-Other settings for
-Allows you to test all colors,
- back up your settings and restore them as well.
- language setting in Danish, French, German, English (US, or UK), Spanish, Italian and Russian.

Bottom line, awesome app. Definitively buying the paid app which is only $1.00 supporting the developer.
