Droid X vs. Droid Charge

Now that Droid Charge received a delicious GB update it's now up to par with my Droid X sans 4G antenna. A couple of weeks ago, A Verizon rep got me on the phone attempting to sell a "promotional" range of phones. Droid Charge happened to be one of them and my upgrade doesn't come up till next year August.

Long story short I would like to know some really noticeable pros from the users to allow me to make this tough decision. The only huge positive factor I see to this is access to unlimited 4G 9 months early due to my grandfathered plan.

Thanks all. :D

I got the Droid Charge less than a week ago, on Black Friday, for $.96 without using my upgrade. My brother had an upgrade, so that's how I ended up with this.

I didn't really have any problems before the GB update. The phone was pretty snappy, with a little lag. I didn't expect lag from a Froyo device with a 1ghz Hummingbird processor, though.

But, it was still worth upgrading for $.96 without using my upgrade. I came from a Droid Incredible. The GB updates makes the phone run a lot better. There is no lag and the phone is very fast. I did a speed test today and my 4G was 33mbps. That's faster than my Verizon FiOS at home. On average, I get 10mbps, though. That's still blazing fast.

What kind of deal are they trying to make with you? If you get this phone, will it use your upgrade? If it's going to use up your upgrade, I'd say wait. You can snag a dual-core and most likely a quad-core phone in the summer if you wait.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do when my upgrade is available in July, since I love this Droid Charge. I may hang on to it and hold my upgrade for the fall, since I'm already on 4G with unlimited.

I'm getting access to an early upgrade to replace my phone with a Droid Charge but upon doing so I'll have to renew my 2-year. :(

The phone will be $100 new instead of the $200 they're charging new customers. That is also a positive way to think about it. Nine months ahead, I'll be kicking back with a quad-core phone (perhaps Razr 2 or Galaxy Nexus 2) thinking how I dodged a bullet there getting another phone with a single core CPU.

I had a DX for a long time until I sold it to a friend so that I could grab the Charge. I loved my X, and there are days I regret trading it in for the Charge. I have significantly more dropped calls, poor connections, missing texts, and spontaneous "no signal" moments with my Charge.

Conversely, there are days I am in awe of my Charge. 4g speeds are amazing, and, as others have said, the screen is sooo pretty. Combine the speed with the screen, and you get a killer experience with apps like Netflix and NFL Mobile.

IMO, it's a trade-off. Are you willing to sacrifice basic phone functionality, for speed and screen quality?

I am actually but as one person made a point, I'll be sitting on this phone for another 18 months when dual-core/quad-core phones will be passing away.

I'm aware the AMOLED screen looks superb but what about speed performance compared to my DX? Using a benchmark app I score an average 1515 on Quandrant.
