***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Here is what's going on at Verizon, yesterday they sent out updated Equipment guide with a date and a price for the Nexus, I was informed from my son who works tech support that employees are not supposed to give any details or even talk about a device unless it shows in the equipment guide with both a release date and price...the two things included in yesterdays release. That brought on an onslaught of Verizon Retail employees calling potential customers making appointments, the press is talking this release date of Dec. 9th up and you can feel the excitement in the air.

Last night Verizon executives get wind of what was happening with their Retail employees and how the media had gotten wind of the Dec. 9th launch date and was basically calling it official....remember Verizon wants this to go as a soft launch and this thing blew up in their face, so how do you stop the media...their employees and how do they make more friends? They change the equipment guide and remove the release date thus closing the door on the employees being able to talk about the device...it puts out the "Coming soon" and the media jumps on that killing two birds with one stone!

As my son said, Verizon jumped the gun and included to much information on the original equipment guide and once they realized the employees were allowed to act and talk as they did because of the information provided by there own executives they had no choice but remove the release date.

My son did see the new equipment guide today and it does say "Coming Soon" but he believes that it will still be released on Friday Dec. 9th...remember Verizon has already shipped the product to retail stores and reseller stores so it is happening and soon so everyone just chill!

I appreciate that info, but my gut reaction is 'meh, we won't see it Friday, no way no how'. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but I truly doubt it.

Don't want any launch hype so they make it seem it will never launch?? Or something like that. This is all so odd.

I am VERY curious to see how this device eventually gets released from a marketing and VZW involvement in said marketing standpoint. At this point I am almost more curious about that than am I am excited to finally get it.

I don't understand why people are willing to switch to AT&T, when they have an unreliable service, because they haven't gotten this phone yet. Downgrading your service to show Verizon how upset you are over "delayed" release, that they haven't officially announced, is just foolish to me.

AT&T is as good if not better in my area. Also I have a few "connections" in AT&T and I will be able to have unlimited data.

So if this thing doesn't launch Friday or.Monday bye bye VZW

By Monday? No way this will be fixed w/ in 24 hrs. By fixed I mean they will know the problem and have a fix for it. If software fix then super easy if hardward (sim, rebanding, etc) fix could be longer but if they have 24hrs of outtage in some areas they will get slapped w/ some bad bad pr and the most popular kid in school can't let that happen.

I never said 24 hours, I said by Sunday, which gives them well over 72 hours. Plenty of time to locate the problem and fix it.

people say that because verizon only understands $. the only way to actually harm a company is to take away their business.

So how long are we willing to confine our displeasure with Verizon to this thread? In this day of social media, if we could concentrate our efforts, we might be able to at least get some type of communication out of Verizon. Don't they at least owe us that? A simple "We originally planned to release on the 9th, but are having LTE issues and are shooting for the 13th now" would be huge in my book.

Again, this is JMO, but I think it is disrepectful to their loyal customers to string us along like this. Especially after we received confirmation from VZW EMPLOYEES that we'd be able to pick up our phones Friday.

So my guy has canceled my appointment, telling me that Verizon has delayed the launch. They do have the phones at the store but no word on a new date.

See how the change in release dates on the equipment guide has changed their retail employees response to the device.

It was the only way Verizon could pull them back all at once!

Agreed. I'm getting sick of this to the point that if it comes out any time after this weekend, I'm going to just wait and see what the Transformer Prime is like in person before I make a decision. I can afford both, but I can't buy both (the wife) if I want to go on vacation next month.

I'll probably wait until AT&T comes out with an HD screen on something, then I'll jump. They've got great 4G in Chicago.

Hey Han, you should try to find a gamestop that has a Transformer Prime to demo. I found one in the Western Suburbs and played with it over the weekend. It is very cool.

Transfomer Prime Demo's

I tweet them every time they tweet me. Any time they try to push the Razr or whatever crap they're pushing, I respond with something telling them I don't want it and I want the NExus. Not 1 reply yet and I've done it for WEEKS now.
