A few thoughts:
1. VZW reps aren't always right. So take this with a grain of salt
1b. even if he is right, that doesn't mean they couldn't push it back further

2. Now I have some leverage when I call other stores because I can say "the guy at the West Gate store said they'll have it out on Sat...I was just wondering if you guys will have it out on the same day"
2b. YOU GUYS should start calling your local stores too and say the same thing so that we can solidify this date a bit more by multiple reports.

3. How is it that I have yet to talk to a VZW employee that's half as stoked as I am about this phone to the point that they have to say "hmm...let me check the computer" or "is that a phone or a tablet" or "Is that the one with honeycomb"? Maybe they're playing stupid and the jokes on me...but dang...they don't seem to be very excited. If I worked there, I'd be in the back opening up all the boxes and beaming things from one to the next and forget to come out front to work :) (I know, I know, I would get fired...but it would be so worth it...and I would run out the door with like 12 under each arm).

4. I'M STOKED FOR SATURDAY!!!!

I had my daughter walk into a verizon store in NH...and the csr said...she had no information other than to say it would be out when its out. At first i was like really?? what a useless excuse for a csr...and typical verizon stuff...then it hit me...

Lady speaks more truth than any all of the rest of us combined.;)

The Verizon store in downtown NYC told me they will have it next week. So the December 15th date looks more realistic. I went into the store the 8th and the sales rep sounded like he knew what he was talking about. Even the fact that it runs on a micro sim card and not on a normal one like the ones in the HTC Thunderbolt or Droid Charge.

I think it is pretty funny that people believe that a store level sales rep is going to have inside information on the Nexus. You are going to find the credible internet sources to know 1000x that of someone in a store. Leaks like inventory reports and new phone SKUs are not even accessible from a sales rep.

Short answer: didn't get one.

Well I went to the store at 10am yesterday (Saturday) morning. There were about 20 employees all buzzing around (they're usually staffed pretty heavily like this...which isn't in our favor when trying to get someone to sell us one "under the radar" haha). The first person to ask me if they could help me was a manager (boo...I was hoping for an intern :)). When I told her that I had been told that the phone would be ready to sell on Sat, she said that was true. *WAS* is the key word here :(. She said that they were definitely going to start selling it Sat until they got "yet another email" about "anooooother" delay.

I said I had been waiting forever to upgrade my OG Droid (to which she was a bit surprised to see me pull the sucker out of my pocket) and how it was "having a hard time keeping up these days". I said that it keeps getting pushed back every week. She said that there is still no release date (as we all know) but that I shouldn't worry because there's almost zero chance that I'll have to wait another whole week.

After leaving the corporate vzw store, I headed down Hamilton to the evo2 store just past San Thomas. I talked to a girl there who said they will "for sure" have it on Monday! Who knows if this is true or not, but she seemed pretty confident and said that she has an email saying that they're allowed to sell it on the 12th. I didn't want to ask her in front of the other customers if she could forward the email to me. I just called her a few minutes ago though and asked if they were still on track to sell them on the 12th. She said yes and asked for my email address so that she could forward the email! So now I'm waiting for that and I'll update this thread as soon as I get the email. I hope it's something official and not just an email from another employee or something. We'll see!

What is a EVO2 store? The only evo I know is a sprint phone.

It's just a vzw reseller. We only have 3 or 4 corporate vzw stores in San Jose but toooons of resellers. I also thought it was weird that they have the same name as a phone. Not sure which came first but I'm guessing it was the store (although I almost always just go to the corporate location so I'm not sure how long evo place has been there). I think there are like 15 of them in the area though.

I'm going to return my "rented" bionic today, and I'll see if I can get one. :p
Probably won't, though, as the odds are like 10000000:1 that they just got a new intern or something.

Well, I just got back the from the Cupertino and Westgate stores, and here's essentially what happened:

Cupertino:
Me: Do you know when the galaxy nexus is coming out?
Sales: We don't have a clue
Me: Do you have any in the back?
Sales: Nope.

Westgate:
Me: Do you have the galaxy nexus?
Sales: No, but you can get it on the 15th.
Me: You don't have any in the back?
Sales: No
Me: Someone told me that they called you and you told them you would be selling them on the 9th, which means that you must've had them before the 9th
Sales: I don't know who said that, but they must've been misinformed.

=/

They totally have them at Westgate. I was just there around 5:30 and asked if I could play with one of them and one guy goes "the inventory guy is a nazi about those things...he won't even let us play with them" and the two girls next to him nodded their heads. So they have them.

As for the girl from the evo2 store forwarding me her email about them selling them tomorrow, she never did :( I even called her back to "make sure she didn't forget about me". But alas...she did.

I'm about done trying to get one before the "official launch date" whatever and whenever that will be. I'm spending too much time running around and watching forums and everything else. I really want to replace my OG Droid and I'm just going to hope now that they actually give a real release date this week.
