[Verizon] [ROM]Stock, Rooted IMM30B 4.0.4

Yeah the keyboard lag in this rom sucks.

Do I have to flash back to 4.0.2 to to go to 4.0.3 roms? Or can I just flash from 4.0.4 to 4.0.3 rom?

Thanks.

If you turn off "vibrate on key press" under Settings-->Language & Input-->Android Keyboard Settings (it is to the right of Android Keyboard, looks like a toggle) you should see the lag disappear. I reboot after changing some settings. YMMV.

Yeah tried that already. Its still meh. Data drops as much as any other rom. So its either the phone or VZW. Not sure which.

Are you using the stock kernel? I noticed some radio weirdness until flashing a custom kernel. I am using Franco's 16.1 and haven't had data drop once.

Yeah stock kernel. I thought Franco's was just for 4.0.3 roms? Gosh would have tried this but am in the middle of flashing liquid rom again lol.

Thanks for the tip! May end up flashing back!

Cheers.

I didn't even think about it! I just flashed it. Gonna go check the change log and see if I should flash a different kernel. For the record, though, I haven't had a single issue since flashing it.

Sorry for being so noobish....... So this is basically a stock ROM but Rooted?

I'm running M3 and happy. I guess I could wait for what AOKP comes up with?

And if I flash this I can go back to M3 via a Rom Manager backup?

Going from full ROM to ROM is new ground for me.

Thanks

It is best to boot into recovery and make a backup manually. The wipe data, cache, dalvik cache (advanced menu), and in the mounts and storage directory wipe system, data, & cache. Then back out to flash zip from SD and flash. When you are ready, after trying the new ROM boot into recovery, make a backup of the new ROM, then restore M3. Using a file explorer you can rename these backups (don't use spaces) for easy transition from your latest backup of ROM A to ROM B and vice versa.

Well, I may have spoken too soon. Keep the .zip in the name? There is no .zip in the name.
I did a manual backup and its in the CWM folder on my SD-card along with my CWM made backups, none of which have .zip in them.

right now i'm on stock rooted 4.0.2...can i just flash this over what i have now without a wipe and keep all my apps/data intact?

Yes. You'll need to to wipe cache partition and dalvik cache then flash. Be sure you know which dnld you want beforehand. One is packaged with the 4.0.4 radio and btldr and one isn't.

If you want the new radio and btldr then you'll need to dnld "Rooted,De-odexed,Zip-aligned ROM With Stock Insecure Boot Image And New Radios & Bootloader". If you don't want to try the new radio then dnld the one below it

one other question - what are the "stock insecure boot images" for? i'm sure i'm gonna feel really stupid when you answer that question but it's been a long few weeks and i haven't done much tinkering since i got the phone (aside from unlocking the bootloader and rooting)...

I just thought it was cool lingo for the "kernel" that is in that package. :p

From the net: "An insecure boot image gives you a degree of recoverability at the very earliest stage of the device boot process, even if the /system partition on your device has been messed up. With an insecure boot image, you stand a chance and connecting your device via ADB to a computer and sort things out to try and recover the device."

I just flashed the 4.0.4 (from stock - I used wugs tool to go back to factory / no root ) - Now I go to rom manager or titianium backup - says I have no root access. Thus, I can't get back to clockwork recovery. If I try to go to recovery manually I get the exclamation of death.

Edit: Ok I'm dumb - I think I flashed the stock, non-rooted 4.0.4. Rerooting 402 now...
