and really all the ota really had to offer was the removal of carrier iq. really not much to offer. mikg3.0 as it is is way better anyways.

I tried that ROM and loved it. It worked for about 1 hr with no issues then somewhere it just started to FC everything constantly. I ended up having to use my back up! Tried Cyanogen and immediately missed the Home button! I use it all the time so that drove me nuts! Back to stock...

sorry to derail the thread a little, but sounds like you did not wipe well enough before you flashed mikg3.0. do a full wipe and try it again. just wipe everything except for sd card and flash mikg3.0. if that does not work then i would post a question in the EVO 4G - All Things Root - Android Forums. plenty of folks there that will be willing to help you out there. MIKG3.0 IS AN AWESOME ROM!!!!

back to the op, i upgraded my phone to the evo 3d and i'm very happy about my decision. but the galaxy nexus looks promising. i will wait however and see how Sprint will implement LTE first. plus i want to see how well it will get developed as far as the rooting community for it first.

I can't wait until my renewal date (04/01), to get rid of my EVO! It was great earlier on. But within the last few months, everytime you get on the internet. It goes into the infamous reset loop, after a while! And the only remedy is to pull the battery, and let it sit for some time.

Since I'm so close to my renewal date with Sprint. It made no sense to pay them $35 dollars for a new EVO, and the chance of it doing the same thinig? So, I'm looking at the Samsung S2, for my new update.

maybe you need ..
1. a hard rest.
or
2. try a new custom ROM

When I took my EVO to the sprint store, they performed a hard reset. And I went thru the pain of restoring most of the apps, data, etc. back on my phone, that couldn't be saved to the SD card. I knew the hard reset wouldn't correct the problem, after reading about others on this forum posting the same problems. But I let the Tech go thru their recommended resolution formality. The EVO went into a reset loop 15 minutes after picking it up from the Sprint store, and browsing the internet. So ordering a new EVO for $35 was the next step.

Again, being so close to my renewal date, it's just better to wait and get rid of it, and maybe try the Samsung S2. Great phone though, when this problem was not prevalent.

Like many of us, my upgrade eligibility is coming up this Spring. I really like my 4G but here are the requirements I would like for a replacement:

1. Replaceable battery... I never charge the phone, just swap out the two extended batteries and reboot
2. Better visibility in sunlight. I live in FL and have to go into deep shade somewhere to see the screen.
3. More memory. I keep getting the warning.
4. Better Bluetooth for wireless headphones...still cuts out no matter which headset I try if I'm moving around. Works OK if I'm stationary.
5. 4G ... I have it on this phone but only have used it when traveling. I'm confused about Sprint's plans for WiMax vs. LTE and don't want to obsolete myself out of the box.

If any of you have suggestions, I'd certainly appreciate them. I'm not tied to Sprint but have been with them for years and have not had any serious issues.

Thanx in advance...

Quad core & LTE or I'll use the EVO until it no longer functions. That should give me enough time to save up to afford whatever the unsubsidized price on a beast like that will be .

That's how I feel.
Some1 from the EVO4G era like us & like what HTC provided - really shouldn't be upgrading to current gen pre-complete buildout LTE handsets IMO.

The step up is just not big enough in performance.

Give me competing & completed LTE networks along with blinding chipsets & next gen streaming vids & audio & HD screens.

Otherwise, all the current gen phones now basically are just a tweak on the EVO4G's original riff.

Sprint G-Nex!

I've got about 6 months left on my EVO before an upgrade and am also considering the Nexus. That 4.65" screen sounds like a champ! However, are you guys not concerned about the fact it only has a 5mp camera? I know more pixels isn't always better...but they tout it as being able to record 1080p video. Also, no HDMI out? Guess I've got time to wait and see how the review are.

I'd have to see something with twice the performance to switch. I'm well stocked up on screen protectors and have an entire Otterbox Commuter case still in the box. Mine would have to be smashed and Sprint not have another EVO 4G to replace it with. My contract renews in May...and I haven't read anything about some new screaming phones coming down the pike for Sprint.
