Help Any fix for the screen?

I got the Prime yesterday. Guy I bought it from gave it to me with a dead battery so I didn't get a chance to play with it really until today.

After installing all my apps and playing around with it, my only real gripe with the thing is the screen. It does not look good at all IMO. I'm not sure I can get used to. Reds look more peach than anything. The colors just look washed out. Is there any fix for this? This is a very slick tablet and runs very smoothly other than this.

you do a factory reset yet

This is right out of the box.

Didn't some of the first Primes off the line have some screen issues? You might want to try messing with the IPS settings to see if it improves.

This one was purchased by the guy I bought it from two weeks ago. What IPS settings are you referring to? I only found settings for brightness which made no difference. I put it side by side with my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and you can see the difference. I pulled up a Bible app with the words of Christ in red. On the Tab, they are definitely red and the other words are in white against a deep black background. It looks nice. On the Prime, the words are in a reddish peach and the white text looks yellowy. Now, the Prime runs circles around the Tab in every other category I've messed with, but the screen is making me want to sell it.

Yeah they are the settings I am talking about, it was a long shot if they did anything. Was all the original packaging in place when you brought it off this guy i.e. shrink wrapped box etc?

I did read back to a post I read when the Primes first came out with some screens having yellow hues causing issues.:

Try an app like this one - https://play.google.com/store/apps/...pps#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDIwMywiY29tLmhpdHBvc3QiXQ..

The red banner on the top should be a deep, red like it is in the screenshots on the site. Instead, it's more peachy. I tried this experiment on my phone vs the tablet. The icon for G+ is a deep red. On my Prime it's not nearly as vivid. It's like night and day. You're saying that's something with my tablet though. On yours, the G+ icon is a dark, vivid red?

I don't play very many games on my tablets. I read a lot of comic books, surf the web, stream video, etc.... All of these things need the screen to have the richer colors like I get on my phone or my Tab 10.1. Is there any fix or is this something that people just have to deal with? I will admit I showed it to another guy in the office who felt everything looked fine until I showed him the other one side by side.

can you upload a screen shot so we can see the colors your screen are displaying.

Here are my pics. This is the Youversion Bible app I mentioned. The Tab is on the right and the Prime is on the left. Brightness is cranked to the max on both of them. You can see how the colors look better on the Tab.

I've contacted Asus tech support via email and am waiting to hear back from them.

I'm curious if anyone else can see the color difference. If it's common across all Primes, then I'll sell the thing and go back to the Tab 10.1. If it's mine acting fluky, then I'll factory reset and/or take it back to see if I can fix the problem.

Its not common to all by any means. There are a few complaints over on xda but not a lot. Mine, my wifes, and a friends are all fine. No bleed , wash out, etc...

I loaded the OnSports app on my Prime and my Samsung Galaxy S and placed my SGS next to the screen of my Prime and my SGS has awesome contrast and saturation with a good solid red color, whereas on the display of my Prime the red and other colors are somewhat washed out.

The SGS SuperAmoled screen is noted for it's stunning display, so maybe it's not a fair comparison.

Even though I prefer images with high contrast and saturation I'm still ok with the display on my Prime. Even though it doesn't have the contrast and saturation that my SGS has, it's just fine as it is as far as I'm concerned.

I'm really curious to see if this is just a defective screen or if it's a physical limitation of the screen. I read a lot of comic books so I really want/need colors that pop. I can't find a single store in town that has the Prime in stock so I can't go down and look at one. It's ticking me off. I've checked Radio Shack, Office Depot, Office Max, Best Buy, Game Stop, even Wal-Mart. All of them show that they're not carried in the local store or are out of stock. Does this have the same screen as the original Transformer? I guess I could look at that and compare it. If this is a bad screen, I'll get it RMA'd and I'll be happy. If this is a design limitation, then I'll sell it, find something else with more storage space and be happy. I don't want to hassle with an RMA if it's not going to fix my problem.

No, the original Transformer has a different screen. But the Prime's screen should be better than the original. So, if yours is worse, you have a bad screen.

I'll go out tonight and eyeball a Transformer screen then in depth. Those I can find anywhere. I still haven't heard back from ASUS. To be fair, I haven't tried to contact them again beyond sending them the email a day and a half ago. Haven't had time.
