I do worry sometimes about the younger generation. I did not mean to accuse you but I guess having your full name, facebook, and pictures are not the best ideas in my opinion. However, you have the freedom to do as you want. I just wanted to caution you about it.

Well just be careful don't meet anyone over the internet, trust me. And the worst way to convince someone something is wrong is to yell at them. It just makes you want to rebel lol.

because i had a judgement in error something that we as humans are all guilty of at one time or another

and then further attacked when i "lied" and said my school was not a public ivy and told that i basically shouldn't be there(not exactly the words but the basis)

I'm actually surprised this forum allows minors to post pictures and personal information. Previous forums I have used did not allow that as it can lead to legal issues. Just food for thought. Anyway you're welcome. Take care.

Yes, filing a false claim on your phone is fraud but that is not the reason for our rates. Poor management and Sh$$$y spending is the reason for our rates. While I don't agree with filing a false claim I don't have the obviuos hatred that some of the people in this forum have.

My home was broken into 2 years ago, all electronics were removed(did not take guns or jewelry just easy stuff to pawn or sell). After filing the claim with our homeowners ins. we recieved 47 cent on the dollar for items we had purchased within 6 months of the robbery. A month later we recieved a letter stating an increase in our premiums. We had already paid six years on the policy and just the increase alone would cover the compensation we recieved in ten years. So essentially our insurance company will get 16 years of premiums for profit just to cut a check. If you do the math on our claim it is 342% interest for that claim.

Yes, getting a new phone under false pretences is wrong but lets direct our anger towards the real criminals. To me that would make sense unless you are already living off of the corrupt system some of us are paying into daily with no reward.

I hope you know I was in no way referring to you. I was just stating that instead of trying to game the system because we feel cheated we should focus on the flaws of the system. I agree that cheating it will make it worse but then again the ones cheating it have'nt really invested into it enough to understand.

Just a thought about the insurance fraud thing.. if you were to 'accidentally' leave it somewhere and come back looking for it later in the day unable to find it, it would technically be lost, and that wouldn't be fraudulent, would it?

If you report your phone stolen they will lock that phone that was "reported" stolen/lost by you. Since you activated it over the "air" or however you did it, it shows up on verizon's computer under your account. After they lock it, the next time you 'try' to activate it through your keypad the phone will make outgoing calls but certain things will be locked aka the internet etc. I know this because i almost got conned into buying a eris that was stolen, i told the seller that i was going to activate it on the spot which he/she agreed to and when i couldn't get the internet to work i called the verizon rep and he/she said that the phone was reported stolen so i couldnt fully activate it.

That is troubling, but not as a legal issue so much as naive on the part of the members doing that.

Perhaps the age of the members is more than indicated. Hopefully.

In my opinion, feel free, really, it's the internet, you really only placed a warning, no direct insult, although you are the cause of some of them as you realized, but that's not really your fault. You sound just like my Aunt, but for the first time, it is not me being scorned and accused of breaking the law. So for the record, I'm all for it!

Plus it was an interesting and compelling thread.

Not only has this thread fallen WAY off topic, it has yet again become abusive and personal...

To answer the question of "Is it fraud?", yes it is. It's breaking the law. Whether or not there are financial or moral implications is irrelevant, it amounts to insurance fraud.
