after ics update vibrate problem

I just updated to ics (vodafone) 2 days ago, i for 1 liked that when i had my loud profile for messages/calls that it would vibrate when some1 texts me but after this update i cant get it to vibrate when i recieve a text. can any1 help???

what are you using to text? if you're using a third party sms app (chomp, gosms, handcent) check in the app settings that vibrate is not off, even though in the ICS system settings, it may show as on.

I am sure you have checked it but it doesn't hurt to ask, the notification sound that you have selected from the sms app, i hope it's not silent.

Another thing that you can try, install a third party sms app like goSMS pro and see if the problem is replicated in that app too. That can help narrow down the root cause of the issue.

1) Factory reset means wiping the phone clean close to factory condition. Doesn't touch the USB storage and microSD but it will clean the 2GB internal phone memory. You lose all apps, settings and contacts. So if you want to do this, you have to backup as much as you can with any available backup methods or apps.

Although if your problem is not serious enough to require this solution, leave it as last resort.

2) Not sure above handcent, but GoSMS have lots of settings. There is a setting for pop up notification which you can off. You should also off the notification from the stock sms or the other sms app if you don't want double notification. Just go through the settings for handcent and GoSMS carefully. Its all in there.

Good luck
