**** OFFICIAL **** ICS COMING SOON thread... Post all questions and info here!!!!

Anyone get the text message about ICS from Verizon that cnet is reporting about? Probably another shot at cnet's credibility.

That seems like a stupid thing for cnet to do, since it's incredible is to verify. I'm sure we'll get the message soon enough. It seems reasonable to Verizon more than 6 hours to get the messages to everyone.

Nothing in CO Springs either. I just figured it was another rumor. To me, "soon" means the day before I decide to pay the early termination fee. IF, for some reason, ICS doesn't come out before the next iphone, I'll be switching for sure.
I'm just not getting this mentality. Well ICS fix broken marriages o'er something? Seriously, it isn't that awesome. Setting aside it being buggy as hell compared to to GB 2.3.6. for the moment, even if it ran flawlessly it simply isn't that much of step up.

Y'all need to step back from the ledge a bit here. If it wasn't such a pita to flash back to GB, I would have done it weeks ago.

... Then you don't get it enough to explain it to someone else?

I bought the phone with Gingerbread on it, that's what it said it had, that's what is "owed" to me. Everything else is just ice cream on top!

So tired of the sense of entitlement. Google and these phone manufacturers (and to a lesser degree the carriers) are doing something great, does Microsoft give you the new version of Windows when it comes out if you bought a Dell/HP/IBM of the right model?

I wasnt talking about the phone. At all.

It was about human nature(atleast mine) that wants the latest, and the anticapation of the newest. My comment must of affected you differently then i thought of, hmm.
So if its bothering you, remember thats just human nature also, to be affected by others words about a subject thats illrelevant to life.
Good day sir.

So, if you think about it the Razr is outselling the iPhone, which is a good thing, but Verizon still offers cheaper data (but not unlimited), which they don't want to do. It is logical more Razrs will be sold when ICS is available, so why not wait until Shared Data is out before you design a rush of Razr buyers holding out for ICS.

Or, I could be full of it.

Either way, the ONLY reason I NEED ICS is to mute the damn end of call tone on Bluetooth. It hurts!

Received this text today from Verizon...
Looks promising!

Free Verizon Message: Your phone will soon be upgraded to Android 4.0. At that time we will remove your Verizon Wireless Mobile IM app because it is not supported on Android 4.0. Please download a new instant messaging app to use IM on your phone. Thank you for using Mobile IM!

Actually I do "get it", to the point I put it on my phone and dealt with all the upgrade BS.

What I don't get is all the rabid enthusiasm and fist shaking at Verizon/Motorola/google about delaying software the won't make your phone experience appreciably better. People are so willing to believe ICS rocks they are ignoring the fact that it isn't really any better.

Don't like blue? Remove some key bloat so you won't get the OTA. That's about the real difference between GB and ICS.

I conceed the fact that ics might not be a BIG advance forward in android, but atleast its the next step in design.

Ive ran 4.0 from day 2 of owning this phone. Gb is rock solid. Ics has smoothed it out just enough to notice. Today im running stock waitung on the ota, and can live with this phone as a daily driver as is.

I dont bash verizon, or google, or motorola, or the guy who sold me the phone. I just check system update availability first thing in the morning, and only being slightly disappointed now. For me its just the natural process of thing to look into the future with excitment in my eyes for the next greatest thing, but its been in such a dry spell since Gb came out. 4.0 will get here whenever it gets here, and im already looking onto Jelly Bean. So thats just who i am.

If you use Verizon's IM app to send messages you will vet the notice.

If you use the Google app to send messages (like I do) you won't getting the message.

It is a part of version bloat ware that is incompatible with ICS.

I haven't gotten a text from Verizon about ICS yet :( Is it because I don't use the IM app?? Or am I just never gonna get ICS?!?!?! Lol!!

I had a G Nex.....and I would have to disagree about ICS not being a big deal vs GB.

Its a significant change and difference. The UI as a whole is different. Underneath the hood its a difference. There are new major features in ICS.

Its like going from 2.1 to 2.2. 2.2 to 2.3 IMO wasnt that big of a deal. 2.3 to 4.0 is a big deal IMO. Now...the thing is...what Moto did with stock GB, adding their new version of Blur to it....ICS isnt so great that I need to have it right now. But stock GB vs stock ICS?....ICS is alot better. ICS vs Blur on the RAZR? Its a lil different story...

I keep saying this...the new version of Blur doesnt get enough credit. I said this a few months ago...those on a RAZR, Maxx or Bionic or whatever Moto phone that has the newest Blur...might be fine waiting on ICS.

Thanks so much DrDiff! :) I thought I also read somewhere yesterday that someone saw on Verizon's update page that ICS will be coming on June 18th?? So as early as tomorrow? Anyone heard/seen this???

It's not coming tomorrow.

Motorola always does soak tests before a release (basically like a beta test). They test out the update with a few thousand users for anywhere from a couple days to a week. If no major issues are found, within a week they will release the update to everyone. There hasn't been a soak test for ICS on the MAXX yet.
