I've just got my Desire rooted and started playing and now the back-up is deserting :eek:

Ah well, hope you enjoy it. My wife has just got a Galaxy II and some of the features on that look nice so if I did upgrade I'd be tempted the same way.

There's only the 34 quid one with 3. Well There's the, 31 but the cost of the handset makes the more expensive tariff cheaper

im glad youve gone with this. i cant get the acend on o2 when it comes out and im due an upgrade next month and was going to go with the sgs as frankly it has everything that i wanted in the htc that htc dont provide

ill probably make mine stock ics though, im not a fan of their launcher

I'm on go launcher with touchwiz. Theres no AOSP yet but i don't see the point as the TW overhead is minimal.

i got bored of go launcher and the tw overhead isnt the reason i want to go ics
i think touchwiz is a fking ugly iphonesque interface and its smells of poo poo

I'm wondering, would stock ICS make use of the capacitative buttons, or would it put the stock software buttons on the screen?

I guess anyone who's used ics on the desire could answer that.

Nothing. The sgs3 is the only phone on the market worth having. Couldn't even consider a one x. I find the strategy behind the one x a joke

I think it looks fine. Its the lack of sd card and removable battery for me. Any phone without these will not be considered

I don't think this will be an issue for me, 32gb is more than enough for me. Bootloops can be recovered from by fastboot (if I've got that right?), so removable battery is not an issue for me either. So it comes down to which I look the look of best, which ROMs are available (preferably AOSP, of which not many about for the oneX that could see) and dev support.
In terms of beauty, for me the SGS3 is wining!

My problem is that I'm a technician. I know some problems will not go away without complete electrical drain of circuitry. Something that can only be achieved by removing the power source. That's my issue

Totally and utterly 100% agree!

Plus, I can't see it having a good re-sale value (in my opinion) because in 3-4 years time the battery will be knackered and you won't be able (easily) to put in a new one!

And I'm prob going SGS3 myself now after playing with both at the weekend! Plus I can get the cheaper 16gb and stick a cheap SD card in AND get 50gb Dropbox free! HTC need to catch up with the storage options to be fair!

Nice phone, my cousin in England just picked one up as well.

I'll sport my Desire with DevNull until my BB 9790 sells, then move on.

No money, but probably time I was upgrading too. Trouble is, I think I'm being ridiculously picky ... there is not a phone at the moment I would say is what I want, or at least without compromise.

I don't like the look of the Galaxy S3, and it feels a little cheap to me. It is also too big for my liking unfortunately

I prefer the HTC One X, but the size is an issue also.

The HTC One S I prefer, but it's dual core and I like to buy the highest spec at the time.

I love the design of the Sony Xperia S, but its dual core again. Hate the Sony interface also, and its not got the development scene the Desire has.

So I'm stuck. Honestly think I will wait, using my phone less and less these days other than when I am out and about to check sites, facebook and news etc. Use laptop or HP Touchpad (CM9) at home pretty much all the time now.
