Verizon Pre-order, Release date, and speculation thread

OK this might work, it might not. The reference number Verizon is using for the shipments is based on the Order location and Order number (NOT the preorder number).

Go to Verizon Status with your preorder number (or look at you order confirmation email the day you ordered).
Get the Order Location and Order Number

Go to FedEx.com Track by Reference page.

Leave Account number blank

For reference number try:
LLLLLLL_00NNNNNNN where the Ls are your Order Location, then underscore and 2 zeros, and the Ns are the Order Number. My order number was 7 digits. If your's was 6 you might try adding another zero and try again.

Fill in Destination country and Destination zip code.

No, there have been initiatives in the past, but none currently. And as I've said before, at my station we NEVER get Verizon packages in early, they always arrive the day they are to be delivered. Verizon ships ALL the time, and they've got the FedEx system figured out.

FWIW, my reference number is the location number, underscore, 4 zeroes, 5 digit order number. So it would look like N123456

Don't feel too used, Top: If you got your SGS3 in hand, would YOU stay in a pre-order thread? Would you really?

Or would you be loading it up with pics, movies, etc, loading apps, setting it up and playing with it until the battery's low?

I have no doubt that some time on - or shortly after - July 10th, this thread will be closed. But as for the Chief? When that doorbells rings tomorrow and there's a shiny new phone on my porch, I will be scarce around this thread.

Nothing personal... it's just how I roll :)

Wow!!! Just got home and opened the box. Thing is freaking amazingggggg. I'm shocked. Like no words at all describe how awesome it is. Huge but not at the same time if that makes sense. Screen is brilliant. Activation must be fine now because it took ~1 minute. Apps all downloaded immediately for me which I wasn't used to. The keyboard is perfect for me. The phone is zippy and the screen rotates immediately. I was on my wifi while the apps downloaded and it was so quick. Also have 4g here in my small town so I will see what that is like tomorrow. I'm shocked by the thing. I knew I would like it but it's just way better than I expected. Going naked as well and it feels perfect that way. No case for me. The home button has a great feel too. And the two soft keys completely disappear if not in use. The first time I went to hit the back button I was like "uhhh where is it?" ha. You guys will all love this phone

It's doubtful. Sometimes we will get a mix container with shipments not due till next day. Those containers may never be opened that morning. And it's almost impossible to find a specific package within them. Imagine an 8 by 8 by 8 room filled with boxes. Would you want to unload the whole room to look for one box?

That being said, if it shows arrival at local station, but not out for delivery, it couldn't hurt to call 1-800-Go-FedEx (say customer service at the 1st prompt) and ask them to call the local station to see if they can retrieve your shipment. If it can be retrieved, you want to pick it up today. If not, you want it delivered Monday. If you can, ask to stay on the line (on hold) while they call.

And DON'T click hold at location on the website. It will be held Monday, not tomorrow. That's why I say call.

I remember getting Galaxy Nexus and how exciting it was last year...until reality hit me and I noticed this. (pic below) :( Loved everything but I won't keep a phone with lousy reception. Hopefully by tomorrow night we will have a good idea if reception is going to be a deal breaker. If so I hope I can find out before even owning an S3 so I can stop waiting and go pick up a Razr Maxx.
