Shipping date speculation

Wow...I just contacted a Nexus rep...and when I said I had a few questions about the Nexus 7 he sounded so upset that I couldn't bring myself to ask him. These people are probably being bombarded with the same question over and over

I ordered on the 27th at 10 p.m.

Called in and got this after soem talking and a forty minute wait. "We acknowledge that some orders are shipping right now. Yes you did order early but, the orders during I/O will ship first of course. As for your order I can't give you and exact date but, you can expect your tablet around Monday/Tuesday at the latest in order to stay true to our announcement of the 2-3 week shipping date."

Of course I paraphrased a bit but is this good or bad news? And have we determined what the actually is causing this delay?

Again, I'd be perfectly fine with Monday or Tuesday, except that retail orders are already out

Well never ordering from Google again when I can just go and order it from Gamestop which I can walk to across the street. Oh and yes I can walk there did I mention that at all!!!

Yeah because if that is true, I could have done the same thing. I work right across the street from one.

Oh well, JUST GIMMIE TEH TABLET!!!

But you got it on release day though. That is how it's supposed to work. I'm to lazy to look up when Diablo 3 came out, but let's say it was street dated as the 15th. So you pre-order it months in advance. The 15th comes around and your friend goes down to the store and buys the game. You receive your copy on the 18th or 19th. To you that's a successful launch? Your friend has the game 3-4 days before you did. You are happy with that?

news flash. some peoples' lives don't revolve around having the latest tech immediately.
if they do, they should evaluate their life priorities. i'm 99% sure that you'll live if you get yours a couple days later than someone else.

You should check with them. I've seen many reports Gamestop is selling the preorders today. I've also seen reports from a few that Gamestop sold them one that wasn't being held for preorder.

GameStop: We spoke to a friendly rep at GameStop's Union Square location who confirmed that the company is selling Nexus 7 to customers with early pre-orders as of July 13th. He told us that each GameStop location is only receiving enough stock to fill those initial pre-orders on the first wave, with a second wave of shipments expected in August "at the earliest." If you put in a pre-order, you may also receive an automated text alerting you to come in and pick up your new Android tablet. The Verge

I thought that this only applies if you had pre-ordered it from Gamestop not from the Google play store the evening after the Keynote/when they went on sale.

Google really dropped the ball here - please don't order from us because we can't get our act together and ship it to the people that ordered on the first day but instead we shipped it to stores first so they can start selling it.

I find this to be an interesting business model!!! LOL

It has nothing to do with tech and everything to do with the piss poor customer service that Google is providing. I'm sorry, but if you put your product up for pre-order it's not unreasonable for your customer to expect it in a reasonable amount of time. I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever order a device from Google again. Ever. Apparently a company breaking their promises to their consumers and treating their customers like they don't even matter doesn't matter to your, but it does to me.

This release is the most absurd of any device I have ever seen. Google won't announce a street date, Gamestop is clueless about when they are getting any and push a preorder on you and now people are saying they have them in stock just sitting there waiting for Google to say something. I am not preordering a device I haven't even seen let alone touched and "mid July" is pretty much here. If its not on sale by Monday, I am getting another iPad. Screw you Google.

If I wasn't at work I would be checking out the Gamestops here and see if I could get one. I think I will anyway when I get off work. The UPS driver might being taking my preorder back with him.
