Help Can not use Bluetooth when audio jack is plugged in

Again though it worked before the firmware update :p

It also works over blue tooth if you disable the lock screen. It just doesn't work over blue tooth with a lock screen.

With regards to security, someone would have to have access to a blue tooth headset you had already paired with your phone. Not likely is it :p there's no real security concern there imo.

Seeing as initiating a call over bluetooth is just another way to launch S-Voice, I am thinking that the same thing happens if you were to try to launch S-Voice without Bluetooth. Meaning that if there is security setup for the lockscreen, S-Voice will not launch from the lockscreen. I will try this over Bluetooth later.

It will and does work on a lockscreen with no security (swipe to unlock).

I agree that if they made it so that it would work over Bluetooth, but not from the phone itself, it wouldn't be much of a risk.

Before the firmware update, were you able to initiate S-Voice BOTH over Bluetooth and direct from the phone (double-tapping home button) when on a secured lockscreen?

If so, it seems to me that in the update, they may have tried to patch the security in S-Voice launching while on a secured lockscreen (non-bluetooth). But since all bluetooth does is launch the S-Voice app, its got to do the same thing both ways.

So I got my galaxy s3 and I connect bluetooth headphones when I go to the gym. After I am done and disconnect the headphones my S3 wants to play any music or audio files over bluetooth even though there is no bluetooth device connected.

I change the volume when in the music player and the bluetooth volume comes up, I turn bluetooth on the phone off and it still won't play out the back speaker and continues to try to play over bluetooth. Rebooting the phone corrects the problem, but next time I use the headphones it does the same thing.

Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it? I tried searching the forum and found nothing like this one.

very odd indeed. by what method are you disconnecting...and are you powering off the headphones

in theory if you have not powered off the headphones the phone will continue to connect to them, even if you manually disconnected them.

The only options in these cases will be to
a. turn off the headphones
b. unpair the headphones vs disconnecting

I do not believe there is an option to turn off auto connect but I will check tomorrow

The way I am disconnecting is by powering off the headphones. I would hate to have to pair an unpair the headphones each time.

It worked for me today but that may be because I tried to connect to my car after I was done at the gym and it wouldn't connect over bluetooth to my car, which it usually does. I tried forcing my car to connect to it and it wasn't working so I gave up. The headphones were off at this point.

When I got home the music played over the speakers. I don't know what is going on with the bluetooth connections on this phone. My HTC Incredible had no problem switching back and forth.

Has anyone with problems tried going into your bluetooth device setting when it's connected and looked at what your connecting your bluetooth for? I have the LG Tone HBS 700 and it works perfectly under all the problems you guys are saying. In the bluetooth settings I have the option for using bluetooth for Media and also Calls.

When I am in the car I have my phone connected for calls through the bluetooth and audio through the AUX cable into the car. I stream Pandora through the car stereo, and when I get a call the music pauses and the phone rings. I talk just fine through the bluetooth and when I hang up the music resumes.

I don't have a single one of the problems everyone seems to be having so correct me if I am not understanding. Also I set it up so when I push the call button on bluetooth it goes to S-voice which also works great.

Really? I am having a problem with an older Nissan Versa Bluetooth, as well as my old Plantronix 230 earbud. It does not switch to the Bluetooth on either device when the aux jack is in use.

What carrier/Android version are you on? I think most people, even with newer Bluetooth rigs, are having the aux/Bluetooth issue.

I found a solution that works (for me)

this little device purchased from amazon

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0083DYPQQ/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00

its an a2dp audio BT reciever. You plug it intio the cars AUX input just like you did the phone and than connect to it via BT. When you make a call on the Cars hands free the music cuts out and the call happens. Just what we want.

What is nice about this little unit (besides being dirt cheap) is that it plug directly into a USB power port for power. A lot of the Audio BT receivers run off a battery and wont work while charging (connected to USB power) so you have to unplug them every time. This wouldn't work for me as my cars power to the lighter outlet shuts off when the car is off. So I'd have to remember to bring it inside to charge it.

The unit I'm recommending has no battery so it can stay plugged in all the time.

I just got this not a 1/2 hour ago. So I really can't comment on sound quality (other than it there), durability or reliability yet. But if you're still having issues, this is something to consider.
JUST SPENT THE DAY WITH THE DEVICE AND IT'S DOESN'T REALLY SOLVE THE ISSUE. AT LEAST ON MY CAR WHEN YOU ARE DONE PARING AND TURN THE ENGINE OFF THEN RESTART YOU CAN'T CONNECT WITH CAR BT UNLESS I UNPAIR FROM THE DEVICE AND REPAIR TO THE CAR...NEVER MIND.

I bought the tune link for my s3 in my tahoe, and i have a samsung charging cradle Amazon.com: Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300, Nexus S, Infuse, Vehicle Dock Kit Car Mount Charger Dock Kit: Cell Phones & Accessories i thought this solution would work, however I have to open bluetooth settings and connect manually each time to tune link and while I am connected with tune link via bluetooth listening to music, when a call comes in the audio goes through the phone speaker for some reason

How odd, I have the tunelink and it reconnects just fine whenever the tunelink is powered on. Make sure you do the following or it won't reconnect:

1) The tunelink cannot be plugged into a power port that is always powered. It will only attempt to reconnect to the phone when it is powered on. If you have an american car, the charging port is probably on by default and you'll need to find the jumper in the fuse box that makes it powered only when the accessories are on.

2) Make sure you install the tunelink app. With this app installed, not only does it reconnect but it resumes playback of whatever app you were listening to when it was powered off and resumes whatever podcast, song, etc was going at the time.

I'm able to connect to the tuneline media profile and the cars bluetooth phone profile at the same time. In fact, I can connect two audio bluetooth devices and a third Elm327 obdII scanner module all at the same time.

Per stick 2.16, it infers that when line out of phone is plugged in, Bluetooth is disabled. So does this mean when listening to music in my car via line out to Aux input, I can't use my Bluetooth headset to make/receive calls without unplugging the Aux cable first? Seems you should be able to make/receive calls via BT and phone should pause music - like iPhone?

Not true, if you use the *actual* line out of the phone and not the headphone jack, bluetooth works fine. But to use the actual line out which is voltage corrected for auxillary inputs and will get you the best sound quality anyways, you need either the Infuse 4G vehicle dock or a USB connector that splits out the line out out which is only available on the usb pinout.

I've been googling all over for one of these cables but can only find ones with the Ipad/phone 30 pin connector. Anyone got any links?

really wasn't that hard; first search found Amazon.com: iKross Metallic Black In-Ear 3.5mm Noise-Isolation Stereo Earphones With Handsfree Microphone Headset + USB 2.0 to 3.5mm Female Audio Stereo Microphone Adapter for Laptop, PC, Netbook, Skype, MSN, internet: Cell Phones & Accessories

There were also several listed that were part of "kits" consisting of car chargers, etc.

Hmm, I don't think that's what we're talking about or I'm just not reading the description properly. It seems to be a full-size USB to 3.5 headphone jack adaptor. What we need is a micro-usb on one end to plug into the phone, and a full-size usb AND 3.5 cable on the other end to charge and to plug into the car audio.

Like this, except with a micro-usb instead of an apple connector.

Don't what you guys are smoking, but when I have the S3 connected through the AUX input in my car, listening to music, bluetooth works fine. Can call out, answer calls, dial out. Everyone can hear me, I can hear them and once I am done with the call the music resumes playing.

BTW, I have a 2011 Acura MDX and this is thru my Handsfree Link.

i posted this over in another forum and it does work. and it pairs up every time you do not have to go in and connect either media or audio it remembers.

Aux and Bluetooth.. this works
For anyone that has a car stereo with a usb and auxillary plug I got this one and it works perfect i leave it plugged in (Power to stereo all the time from fuse box) it connects to my plantronics voyager pro hd (headset) and my bluetooth dongle connected to my kenwood stereo with usb (for power) and plugged into 3.5 aux jack (the cord that comes with it is only maybe 4 inches so this is great you don't have that long annoying cord). As soon as i turn bluetooth on in the phone while i am in the kenworth it auto connects to both.
i have profile for voyager pro set to audio only and have the dongle set to media only. music plays nice and clear then when call comes in stereo mutes and call is routed to headset (no echoes and clear) when disconnected from call music starts again.
Been reading about this and have seen people returning their phones because of this so hope it helps anyone.
