Any idea if android will introduce a native android iMessage type app? One that would allow android to android text messages, that use data? Just like the iPhone iMessage app?

The open ecosystem of Android has lots of third party apps that do this, whatsapp, skype, viber, etc. Also, you have google talk.

There already is. It's called Google Talk and comes pre-installed on all Android phones. It supports text, audio, and video. It's also cross platform so anyone with an iPhone or BlackBerry can also use it.
