Internal storage-Phone storage-SD card

Is there a tutorial explaining Internal storage-Phone storage-SD card ? I ,more or less, understand the use of SD card ..but what is the difference between Internal storage-Phone storage ? In my Jelly bean Internal storage 50% available,Phone storage %100 available..why isn't there a balance between Internal-phone storage ? My default write disk is SD card, however when I install programs from Gplay some of them will never install-move to SD card..is there a method of installing everything to SD card ? ( I don't want to Root)

My understanding of the storage is as follows

Phone Storage = data storage for your apps

internal storage = pictures, music, etc

sdcard = pictures, music, and etc

Note Phone storage can be broken into two categories ROM (Read Only) and RAM (Random Access) ROM would be reserved for /system memory. This includes all apps that came with the phone, While Random Access (Read or Write) is reserved for /data memory. Program settings, databases, libraries, etc.

Internal memory is usually RAM and up to 32 gigs in size where as SDCARD can be supported for higher RAM such as 64 gigs.

Hope that helps

Internal memory is your Read Only Memory for operating system and system files etc.

Phone memory is the internal embedded SD Card memory, which people usually identify with when they are looking to buy a phone model and see descriptions such as 16 GB version, 32 GB version etc, & which most people install applications onto.

SD Card memory is the External SD Card storage memory which isn't embedded inside the phone and which you might buy separately and slide it in the external SD Card slot allocated on your phone .

Hello nesetceri. Post #3 by SkyJackpot describes the basics of memory allocation on (most new) Android devices pretty well. I have nothing to add to that except that adjustments to the placing of certain programs/apps/widgets/media and other files can be made with apps for that purpose available in the Google Play Store, some requiring a root exploit for their functionality, some not.

You are all guessing, which makes it all less clear than it already is.
If you are not sure, than better don't post...

All I can say, from my own experience, is that if you install and mount a SD-card and set the 'write disk' under phone settings - storage to 'SD-card' the 'phone storage'(2Gb in my case) will stay 100% unused.
I can not figure out how to use it for app storage. I can use it for picture storage by setting 'write disk' to 'phone storage'. But you really don't want this. As your phone crashes or dies, your pictures will be gone.

I would be nice to be able to use the 'phon storage'(2GB) to install apps to. But this seems not possible.

Florisz

p.s. I also tried different settings under storage and default install location.
