Hi
I got my phone flashed to MetroPCS. I din't do it my self, a guy at the moetro store did it. Everything is working fine. I rooted the phone before it was flashed. My question are: Can I install a custom ROM to the phone now that it is flashed? If so, what are the risks?

Thanks!

Hello
I installed CM 10.1 last night following this video
How to Install CyanogenMod 10.1 Jelly Bean on Samsung Epic 4G Touch - YouTube
Voice and text worked. I didn't read the part where you have to use titanium backup to convert the backup to system app so I couldn't restore the apn settings. I reinstalled stock ICS rooted using this guide:
http://androidforums.com/epic-4g-touch-all-things-root/680915-root-guide-start-finish-fi27.html
I installed the one that resets everything. Now internet is working again but no mms.
When I get CM10.1 fully working I will post in detail what I did.

This is supposed to work for mms

but I haven't even tried cause I can not get internet acces on CM 10.1 . I already converted the APN app to system app and restored the APN but still dont have internet access. Is there any way to cange the APN manually? I have been looking for APN settings but can not find it :(

Follow that, no Internet required, just voice search.

My signal and data speed are really low with CM 10.1 (400 kbps). Using stock FI27 or Blu Kuban, my data is much better (700 - 1200 kbps). Maybe it is because I had to install the alternative carrier data fix:

to get data using CM 10.1. Maybe it is because CM 10.1 is JB. I have no idea. But I would love to have good data speed using CM 10.1. Battery life is amazing with this ROM.

I glanced at your profile and see that you are in LA. A quick search shows that there were still stores there flashing to metro as recently as September.

My best advice to find one is to find a store that sells new and used phones that is also a Metro PCS distributer. Or even better, find one that does repairs as well. When I was looking at flashing a phone to Metro, that is how I had the best luck. They had two tiers of flash: phone and text or 3g as well. I was looking at flashing an old Epic 4g (s1) and the 3g flash didn't always stick, so look into that and try to get a guarantee.

When you get it flashed, do u need to have service with sprint first? or can i just take it? Also is there a charge for flashing?

If you can even find a place that still flashes them, the will definitely be a charge. Just phone and text was $30-50 and having data and sms was $20 more. I don't know if it is still even possible now.
