The thing is though: nexus 5 has unlocked bootloader, G2 has loki. If nexus 5 is made by LG, it will be better than the G2. Nexus will also have more dev support

I am on Verizon and the nexus 4 wasn't available on Verizon and whether the N5 comes to Verizon is up in the air still. Besides with root already available for the G2 and the same hardware the G2 will have more than enough dev support. Then just flash a new rom and bam.
honestly, there are quite a few more phones i could slap on the list, but i think my point came across - it doesn't matter, as far as specs go, when you're comparing top-end devices right now. pick the UI/form factor you like, and run with it. there isn't a bad choice to be made at the moment. it's not always like that - sometimes, despite a device being ultra-high-end, it's still a turd.
