Root (Port) Behold 2 1.6 ( No Twiz w/ Busybox & Rooted Kernel )

This ROM works awesome on my phone. My phone sleeps, sends/receives pic messages, proximity sensor working, working market, my only bug is that the send to button in the camera screen doesnt work. I was going to re-odin as BH_MAN had suggested, but now that he's pulled it, i'm hesitant to re-odin because i dont want the bugs reported by others to suddenly pop up on my phone too. I learned long ago not to fix something that isnt broken, and this ROM is FAR from broken. any thoughts, suggestions?

How did you manage to get the proximity sensor to work that is the only thing that's messed up on my phone. I don't know if the sleep issue is fixed but when I go and hit the menu button, home button, and call button the phone doesn't turn on but when I hit the ok button, back button, cube button, end call button, and of course the lock button the phone turns on with the standard lock screen is the phone sleeping or do I have still have a problem, anybody you knows whats going on please write back I could use all the help I can get.

Edit: I waited a couple of minutes now the ok button and the back button do not wake the phone up only the cube button, end call button, and the lock button.

TO THOSE OF YOU HAVING BATTERY PROBLEMS.

I am sooo happy to say that I may have found a solution to the problem. Last night I was searching for an explanation as to why some people were having tremendous battery life while others were having sub par battery life. I looked around the forum and could not find any detailed instructions on how to "possibly" fix this. I think I may have found the solution.

First of all, for the past 2 weeks since DL the original bh_man 1.6 no twiz I have averaged 12 hours of batt life with moderate usage and dim settings and running task killer constantly killing apps. I was satisfied with the rom but wanted more battery life.

So, with help from aquateus3 I decided to RE-FLASH the bh_man rom. Only this time I drained the battery, and once it died I continued to press the on button which began the opening animation several times and then died. I did this until it no longer began the behold animation completely drained. I then re-charged WHILE OFF until the battery said it was full. Once full I removed the battery for a few minutes before turning the phone into DL MODE. I plugged into USB and RE FLASHED the Bh_Man 1.6 no twiz through ODIN. Once complete, I removed the battery once more for a few minutes and then turned the phone on. Lo and behold (no pun intended =) the battery only read 65%!! After it just said it was 100%?? I immediately turned the phone OFF and charged the remainder until it read FULL.

I unplugged the charger and turned the phone on.

I am happy to say that as of right now I have 9 hours of up time so far with 72% BATTERY LIFE right now!!! Normally I would have about 30-25% battery left so this is a HUGE IMPROVEMENT! I do not know the technical reasons for all of this, all I know is that it worked and I sincerely hope that this will help others that have had battery issues. Just to clarify, I have run brightness on 11% and since reflashing and removing the battery my phone FINALLY SLEEPS PROPERLY EVERY SINGLE TIME. The whole day my phone slept properly which is a first. I also kill all tasks including task killer before allowing the phone to time out and sleep. I would say the phone can easily last 24 hours now!

Thank you Bh_man for this amazing rom! I only use the original 1.6 no twiz, not the new one that has been recently removed. Also thank you aquateaus3 and RudoFF for all the help you guys have provided. I love sharing this great information with all my android friends = )

Hope it works for you guys!
p.s. Back up your files before reflashing......duh lol

Hey BH_MAN,

Glad to hear you'll be getting a phone soon. I don't think you broke more than you fixed with this rom. So Far I get fewer FC's. Better battery life. GPS locks on a lot quicker than before. Today for a few phone calls my proximity sensor worked exactly how it should but then it stopped again. I did get a FC on the dialer today but that has been the first so far. I think you are pretty close to a rom we can all be happy with. For whatever reason it just seems like some people phones have more problems than others. In all the roms I have used I have never had as many bugs as people usually talk about. To be honest (and to guess) it seems like the luck of the draw. I don't think I am doing much different than others to not get the errors so who knows at this point.

I'm on TWIX but still getting FC's on Phoneapp, gppas, dialer, google voice. Recommendations? I know that this was exactly what TWIX what meant to fix from TWIZ

I have been running twix for serveral days (basically since it's release). And I am wondering if you are seeing true FC's or if you see the FC/wait message? I have been seeing the latter and hitting wait normally works fine and I only see the message once per occasion.

Here are my findings.

1. Battery life is pretty good. What I have seen is at times the phone does not sleep but a reboot fixes it. I can easily get 20+ hours if the phone is correctly sleeping. It drops about %20 overnight with if the phone is sleeping correctly. I have not been able to figure why the phone periodically does not sleep. A reboot fixes it and I can run the same apps again without issue.

2. Having the wireless location enabled will trigger the phone not sleeping. GPS location does not appear to do this.

3. I have had better luck with wifi enabling/disabling using ultimatejuice. It still does not enable correctly at times but is better.

4. When using the phone I have had it reboot itself a couple of times since. Not frequently and not reproducible

5. I do see the FC/wait message several times a day but hitting wait normally clears the message and the app starts responding again.

6. I am unable to keep root working consistantly for things like titanium backup. I can get it working by trying the various fixes that have been posted but it always quits working again.

I consider the phone usable with twix installed. I just wouldn't give it to the average user at this point yet. It is much better than the junk samsung shipped on the phone.

I am going switch back to my N1 for while and see if I can figure out what app may be causing the sleep problems. I have the same apps installed on that phone and have found some that do seem to cause problems more. As an example, weatherbug elite is one that seems to cause more sleep problems for me.

well I was on Galaxy R7, everything working fine. Flashed to twix when my market downloads started to fail. Flashed to twiz, same problem. Even flashed to stock, same problem. I just flashed back to twiz.....

So the problem has been following me =/

I tried logging into a secondary Google account, and the downloads WORK!!!!!!!!!!, but the moment I go back into my primary account.. my downloads fail :thinking::thinking:

I can't be logged into my primary account in gmail without getting logged in the same account in the market. :(

Which is rather problematic =/

for proximity sensor to work: i went to the "settings" (the one in the app drawer) and "display settings" and "LCD Brightness" and toggled automatic to off, then back to on. no idea why that worked, but it did (got the idea from this thread as a matter of fact)

on a side note, i think i jinxed myself by posting about how wonderful the ROM was working on my phone. i've since found a way to make my messaging app FC on me everytime i try to open it (and i even tried to push the factory apk back, so i dont know what i messed up), sleeping is now hit and miss (but does seem to work more often than not), and i got like 7 FCs all in a row last nite (this has never happened before on this ROM). going back to 16_no_twiz (currently running 16_no_twix) until BH puts out a twix that he's happy with.

ok, i know this is the wrong thread for this, but i've posted in the correct area and got no help. i desperately need some info on a2sd. i have partitioned my 8GB SDcard with 543mb ext (i used paragon to do it). the questions i really need answered are as follows:
1. how do i tell if a2sd is working?
2. is there something specific i need to do to install apps to the sdcard as opposed to the phone?
3. can i run apps directly from the stored location on the sdcard or is the point of this just to store them? if the point is just to store them, does that mean i have to adb push/pull to use the stored apps?
4. is there anywhere in particular that will show me exactly where an app was saved? do i control this at the time of download or at some point afterward?

i know thats alot of questions, and on the wrong thread no less, but i really would like to know the answers, and like i said, i've had no response on the appropriate board. THANKS IN ADVANCE for any/all who can give me some insight

Hmm, so after running No Twix version for a couple days, I noticed a lot of no sleep problems with it (even after turning off basically every data/location/wireless function). No matter how many times I rebooted it would happen again shortly after (due to cpu scaling?). I just reverted back to No Twiz version, pushed my own framework and twlauncher to get rid of round corners etc, left gps, wireless location etc all on, and it sleeps just fine. Overnight between the two without charging while supposedly both sleeping: No Twiz used 11% over 8 hours, No Twix used 29% over 8 hours. When idle/standby, the No Twiz version doesn't respond to any key presses except cube/end call button, whereas the No Twix version I found that any key on the front of the phone will turn it on the screen even though the battery stats will say it has been in idle/standby.

Well, first download "Quick System Info" from the market. It will tell you how much of your EXT2 partion is left (Under A2SD Storage). Your "Internal Storage will STILL go down a little since some apps require it.

However, I have 67 apps installed excluding default ones and I still have 121 MB Internal Storage left. I believe default apps stay in /system/app. Anything YOU install goes to A2SD. I also found that any more ROMs that you ODIN that supports A2SD, you do NOT lose those apps. BH_MAN did a great job with this that everything about A2SD is FULLY automatic. Hope this helps. I still have 867MB left on my A2SD partion with 67 apps :D

One question you have me confused are you saying you went back to the 1.5 no Twiz from the 1.6 no Twiz or vice verse. With everybody not explaining the firmware "number" you can get a little confused don't you agree! Now with the phone not sleeping with the 1.6 no Twiz I finally got it to sleep correctly after doing a master reset the only buttons that turn on the phone are the cube, end call , and of course the lock button. I hope this helps everybody with the sleep problem just make sure to use a app to back up everything before you do it you going to have to set up everything again once its done with the reset. Now with this ROM tons of FC's but the phone is still usable till BH MAN receives his new phone to maybe work on it and polish it up a little. The one thing I gave up on was the proximity sensor no matter what I do like the toggle auto brightness on and off will not work for some reason, so I'm considering this ROM as a beta so keep your fingers crossed for a updated fantastic ROM from BH MAN one of the best "Modders" out there...

I'd assume it's the 1.6, since he talking about getting rid of the rounded corners, which the 1.5 no twiz doesn't have. ;)
