GS3 Case discussion thread

Got the Urban Armor Gear case. I've tried a few different cases, and this one is my fave. I love that the phone is still slim, no added bulk or weight like a few other cases I've tried. Yet it still feels like it will do a good job of protecting if I drop it.

I also like the stormtrooper look!

Cracked my Otterbox commuter taking it off. It's in the bottom corner and ends about 1/2" in right now. Hopefully it holds for a few more months

They have pretty good customer service. If it's less than a year old they will warranty it. Just go to their web page and submit a claim.

My Otterbox Defender is starting to stretch out at the one of the corners. I'll be attempting to get a replacement silicon soon.

I'm sure it is over a year old now, but I'll have to dig through my Amazon records to check. The crack is growing even though I haven't removed the case since it happened, it is almost halfway, so it is going to split in two soon. If I try and remove it it will almost definitely split.

I would contact Otterbox and see if they will replace it. I have always had great service with them. It doesn't matter where you bought it from, they will replace it.

Tons of cases on eBay. I already have a thin, white rubberized hard case for mine.

Otterbox sucks (no grip, slippery)

Ballistic for me when they get stock.

Hello - I recently moved to the Galaxy S3. Is there an opinion (or existing thread) as to what the best case (I want one that is skinnier than that Outerbox).

Thanks

I found a great case: Case-Mate Tough Xtra. It is very durable and looks good.

I am using a hybrid hard/soft two piece case. I love it. Comes with a rubbery piece that covers the whole phone.. then has a hard shell to go over that. Very tight fit and... the idea behind it seems like the best way to go unless you want a monstrous bulky case that covers the front. Depends on how you use your phone. I consantly have my phone in my hand so this case is perfect and tough.

I always feared that TPU cases wouldn't offer enough protection in all situations but also disliked 100% hard cases because they don't have any "give"... therefore transferring all the shock of a drop right to the phone.

This is hard on the outside and soft on the inside offering amazing protection. Check it out on newegg... you can find so many color combinations, it's awesome. MYBAT hybrid cases, I believe.

I've tired a ton of cases already for the S3, and I should of just went with the same case I had for the LG Motion that I recently found for the S3, and I ordered two in Black without any hesitation. Great seller, fast shipping, great communication, and mine will be here tomorrow.

Yes that's pretty much exactly the case I am talking about, I just have a different brand (MYBAT). I love the protective feel of these designs.

Oh, didn't know they came in different brands, but yeah man, out of all the cases I went through on the Motion, I just kept ordering those as the phone just felt so SOLID inside that case. All the other cases I've tired so far with the S3 just feel like the phone will just slip right out, and some are one piece, and extremely cheap, but the one we both linked, they're in nice and snug.

Not to keep repeating myself, but it is nice to see someone else has used these designs and felt just how great they really are.

I'm very happy with the Urban Armor Gear case that I have on my S3. Fits extremely well, has a nice lip around the front to protect the screen, small corner bumpers on the back of the case to help protect the case itself from any scuff marks, and hardly adds any bulk at all. It comes with a screen protector, but I went with a Zagg HD instead. I have the gray "Aviator" model, and it looks really good.

It also amazes me that some ebay sellers are so terrible. Like, for example, if I sell something that happens to end Friday night or Saturday morning, and the buyer pays by Saturday early enough in the day, I'll print their receipt, package their stuff, and go use the self service kiosk at USPS that is available in their lobby 24/7. I rather send their stuff, and mark as shipped, and provide a tracking number as soon as I can, the sooner the better. I'm real anal with my ebay feedback just as much as I am anal with my credit cards and credit. The faster I ship, the faster they get, the happier they are, and more positive feedback for me.

Most sellers mail quick while others don't which boggles my mind. Some cases I've ordered are still not here and I ordered a week ago, and they all are shipping from a few states away. I've shipped from FL to CA before a few times FIRST CLASS in 3 days when I use to still live there.

Then you get the sellers who mark as ship right away as they print their labels from home, but then the tracking doesn't update for 2-3 days as it wasn't actually shipped when it was marked as shipped almost as if they think marking it as shipped will make the buyer happy thinking it shipped so fast. I ONLY mark a sold item as shipped once I come BACK from USPS with MY receipt that contains the tracking. Then I mark as shipped, and add tracking right away to both their ebay account and PayPal account, I also send a confirmation message that the item shipped, and I provide the buyer with the expected delivery date, their tracking number, and even the link to the USPS website to where they can track it, but I NEVER get that EVER. Currently, my feedback score is 121 with 100% positive feedback, and that's over a LONG period of time. I never ONCE received negative feedback on ebay because I really do go that extra mile to package everything nice, with newspaper or bubble wrap for padding, a invoice, and just a all around great experience. Sometimes, I even have the buyer message me amazed at how fast they received their item. For example, if they paid Saturday around Noon, I would make it a point to get to USPS within the next 2 hours if I'm free, and mail it out before the 2pm pick up, this way by that evening, or mid afternoon Sunday, their package is already either leaving the state that it was shipped from or a state or two down the road already to where they receive by Tuesday, and they're extremely happy, but I guess that shows you that some sellers are better all around than others.
