Help MMS Issues Lately

Ok so lately, people have not been receiving my MMS messages and I have not been receiving theirs. It is becoming a pain. It seemed the problem became more rampant after the 4.3 update but I do not know if that is the culprit. I doubt it.

I've restarted the phone, pulled battery, cleared cache, cleared out all the texts, etc and seems to not work.

And I am using the stock message app. On TMobile.

Is the only other step to do a factory reset?

Any help would be appreciated.

I have no issues with MMS on mine.

Before doing a hard reset, double check APN settings for MMS. Maybe it got messed up during the update. Boot in to safe mode and test (default apps will still work in safe mode).

If still experiencing issue within safe mode, then a hard reset is more than likely needed. Could be some old system files or whatever that is causing the problem and needs to be purged via hard reset. Just make sure you back up important data on the device prior to it.

Could you help and explain this a little better/ I have no idea what APN settings are.

And what I would be looking for in safe mode?

Thanks

Sorry, APN = Access Point Names

In System Settings, go into More networks>Mobile networks>Access Point Names

You should see the carrier's APN and tapping on it will bring up settings. If there is nothing there, you will need to create one. You will need to contact the carrier for correct APN settings if this is the case.

Booting into safe mode will disable all third party apps and only run stock ROM and defaults. If everything works in safe mode (ie. able to send/receive MMS), then the culprit lies with a third party app or setting that is causing the issue. Troubleshooting that will be difficult as you need to find the app or third party setting causing it.

If all this fails, then a hard reset may be required to get rid of whatever residual setting, file or app that is causing the issue. It's the last resort but generally fixes update bugs and residual stuff left behind that should have been purged but still present.
