Hey guys, I'm coming from the LG Spirit on Metro PCS. Well I got tired of paying full price for sub-par phones and decided to join the big boy companies for a change of fresh air and a hefty device. I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys on this side. I'm noticing not too much has happened yet with the AT&T model. I decided to go with this one because it's the first one I saw that got the 4.4.2 KitKat update, hopefully we'll get a root exploit and someone will find a way around the locked bootloader (a problem we experienced with the Spirit). I've got a lil knowledge and can irc, team view, test whatev anyway to get this device moving forward. My G2 should be arriving this weds so I'll be around.

After skimming through the quick and easy method link can you tell me if that's the exact same KitKat that comes through the update, or are things different on the two roms? If they're the same the smart move would be to just flash stock/rooted/custom recovery KitKat. I mean that's a no brainer, thanks for the link boss.

Sure if your phone gets shipped with JB and you root it with custom recovery, by all means flash a stock, rooted rom if available. I don't know exactly what roms are available for this variant, I'm on VZW but keep up somewhat on the going ons with the G2 in general. I just linked that to let you know that options are also available if your phone is shipped with KK and you want to go backward then root, then reacquire KK (by whichever means).

It showed up today and I've got to say I'm seriously impressed! It did come preinstalled with KK, I'm noticing that right off the bat 10gigs is already in use. I was reading somewhere that 8 of those gigs are bloat, I'll play around with it until the Friday when I'll have the day off to see about downgrading so I can run a rooted KK and get rid of some of this bloat. But seriously this thing is a monster in comparison to the Spirit.

Late response, but welcome orko. I also came from metropcs to this phone on at&t recently. I remember seeing you around those parts from time to time. I mainly stuck around in the galaxy s3 forums where I did a bit if dev work work with shabby, as well as the lg connect.

I was happy with this phone right out of the box, but it only took me roughly 5 or 6 hours to decide to delve in and root/twrp it and install slimkat lol.

I'm gonna hold off until they get a CWM working before I mess with recovery. Shotty thing, my AT&T rep gave me 50 bucks on the AT&T isis card which won't work if you're rooted =/ so I unrooted to use that damn thing, so until I use it up I'm gonna stay unrooted =/ damn dollars running the world and whatnot lol

Lol I hear you man. But, CWM is working :p if you use autorec to install twrp, overwriting the aboot, you can then use rom manager to install CWM with no issues. Been using it all day!

Got my phone and my wife's at the same time, she got the isis app registered before I did so she got the 50 bucks and I didn't lol. Oh well I like good wallet more anyways.
