Help Already cracked my !&#$@% screen

I know if the replacement glass is coming from Samsung themselves, it will be quite expensive most likely. There are third-party replacements available from China, but the quality may not be there.

China makes cheap stuff, some shows in the poor quality... but they also make very good stuff too, excellent quality. Depends on who they're making it for.
Such I have some Gerber, Cold Steel knives that use to be made in USA, but now china and I can't tell the difference as the quality looks the same.

I know that, I live here. :D ...as long as the factories are using exactly the same methods, materials, workmanship and standards, there's no reason why the quality should be any different.

...and of course all those beautiful Apple products are made in China as well. However third-party parts, like front glasses and screens will often come from sources like Ali Express, and posting the URL is blocked on AF, which might say something about their general reputation. Probably what you'll get won't be Corning Gorilla Glass or anything toughened and scratch resistant. When I got the broken glass replaced on my Lenovo here in China, the spare came from Lenovo themselves, however it wasn't expensive and the authorised dealer (China Mobile) replaced it while I waited, cost equivalent of $30. Probably if I managed to break my current daily use Samsung, I bet that would be expensive. I know they wanted around $180 to replace the screen on a Galaxy S I managed to break, not worth it on a phone that was over a year old IMO. I believe Apple can charge around $200 just to replace broken glass and screens on iPhones.

Same thing happened to a coworker with an HTC M8 I told him you want to make sure you have a case WHEN you get the phone. He didn't listen. The only phones I've ever dropped HARD and not damaged the phone was an iPhone 4S and old Blackberrys. The screens on these are so thin I wouldn't dream of not using a case, plus I'm clumsy :)

Hope it works out for you. My coworker is sending his back to HTC and once they determine it is only screen damage they will release the $499 hold on his CC and I think it costs him like $29 to have it shipped

Unbelievable....And the story goes....Got phone 1 week ago, order case next day, case gets delivered yesterday but not in time.......

anyway...my fault. shoulda bought a case immediately, regardless of the cost . cause now it's really gonna cost me

So is glass available yet? I hear getting in these things is a pain due to it's water resistance.....any advice, direction, input on parts, diy, or cheap outsource on long island.

If you paid by credit card many credit cards offer a limited time loss/damage protection feature. If you break, lose or otherwise suffer a loss on an item purchased with many of these credit cards you can get a full replacement. Check with your credit card agreement fine print or call customer service.

I will stay on insurance until I get my case in the mail. Then I'll drop it. Replacement led bezel assemblies are around $190 on ebay. Don't know how easy/hard to replace, though. Plus I have my S3. Two phones, save $14 month.
However, insurance covers theft, which I can't fix from a part on ebay.
Good idea! I have the S-View Flip case on mine now and also a S3 in the wings in case something happens to the S5. Insurance is too high. That S3 is still a nice phone... not a scratch or scuff on mine yet too.

My Note II was stolen and I had to revert back to my trusty S3 until the S5 came out.
