Favorite App so far.... Developers please see link to Announcements above.

TunnelBear
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tunnelbear.android&hl=en

Highly Recommended.

It's a VPN app that makes all your traffic whether in data or WiFi secure. Very easy to use.
You get 500MB free data per month for free, 1GB free if you Tweet once a month about the app. I personally went for the $5/m fee which gets you unlimited traffic on 1 computer and 2 mobile devices.

Hah..."This item is not available in your country.". Of course China is the kind of place where one might need a VPN app. And I'm already using a VPN anyway to get items from Play in the United States, amongst other things.

That's too bad Mike, funny how the 'open' internet as it was introduced is not so in some sections of the world. A simple thing like Netflix: Canada's is no where near the content of the US version and we are right next door in a 'free democratic society'. Just glad there are alternatives and ways around it!

Part of that is the absurd copyright laws

Has anyone tried this? Curious if it uses much extra data, going thru the app? thx

Currently, I'd have to say that Llama and Gravity Screen-On/Off are my favorites despite the fact that, once set-up, they run in the background without any additional interaction.
I use Llama for location, app, and time based volume and wi-fi toggling.
Gravity allows me to use a 9 second time-out. It's sensitive enough to notice my slight motions yet recognizes when it's still. Also, it uses the proximity sensor to turn the phone off when it gets flipped/put into my pocket.

Personal opinion, this is a list of Android apps that you should have on your Android device. Of course, there are hundreds of thousands of apps in Google Play, if you like any others and think they are "must-have apps", free to leave a comment below.

a. Kingdom of Legend - Android/iOS
A must-have strategy game for your phone. Very easy to play. Good and active community from other countries. PvP and wars all day long and it

According to the phone I have used about 270MB of data this month, not much as I'm on WiFi as much as possible. I've had TunnelBear running (digging ;) ) for about a week solid, it doesn't appear to use much data. Just did a clean wipe a couple of days ago so I'll have a better idea in a couple more weeks.

I'd like to add, in no particular order:

1) Camscanner - use your phones camera to scan anything to JPEG and PDF. (You can even fax using the app)

2) Lost It - daily calorie app to log foods you eat and exercising.

3) Pro Weather Alert - just as it says, weather alerts for where you are, without draining your battery.

4) Lookout - For security of scanning all apps and files on phone for malicious stuff that can effect your phone. Also, when using the stock browser, scans URL's to make sure safe.

5) TrustGo - Does the same thing as Lookout, but can be used to scan URL's for 3rd party browsers. (Which Lookout can't do.)

6) ES File Explorer - organize all contents on phone.

7) Quickoffice Pro - creating and editing Word, Excel, Power Point and PDF

8) SMS Backup - backs up all your text messages, including attachments, to your email. Can be restored to phone as well.

9) Kitchen Timer - can have up to 3 timers running at the same time.

10) The Bible App - The bible with you everywhere you go.

11) NIV Study Bible - This is the Zondervan version of the hard back book. It has all the maps, study notes, etc., stored locally on phone. (No internet connection required.)

12) Amazon Kindle - reading books

13) Merriam-Webster Dictionary - nice to be able to look up words. (Also, don't need internet connection.)

Even though i am half ANDRODIAN an half monkeyboy, I do like OneDrive over Google's "Pictures" or whatever they cal lit now.

OneDrive security default is "private" for everything you post and you can set at a folder level - all content down to a single object within the folder to be accessible for whomever you send the link to - up to a "global everyone" level.

with Google-"picasa" its open to the world until you go thru convoluted settings just to restrict.

Plus OneDrive is FASTER to render your content. Google's Albums of pics take longer to load.

BUT..... I STILL AM ANDROID!..... (ok, no more Iphoney or winmo talk from this androdian).....except for Microsoft OneDrive!

Okay, Its been awhile since my Trusty Android t.e.d.6 has been treated to a brand new app to keep'em company. He's not even browsed "The Market" except to get manual updates for apps that are used most and i have backed up the current apk version in case i wanna rollback.

T.e.d.6 sez he needs to ve "woo'ed" and "awe'd" with a new app preferavly a businesztype app that really is a big hit and hss lots of good feedback.

Hello, thx for the recommendation. How does Gravity Screen effect your battery life? Thx in advance

My favorite android app so far is Talkatone.

I am trying to save as much money back as possible, so I use a cheap pay as you go cell phone plan, and the cheapest one I could find was Tracfone's $7 per month Samsung Galaxy Centura, but that ends up being about 60 minutes of talking time per month. That's not much.

I also have a Verizon pay as you go Moto G, and it was great, but more expensive, so I stopped paying for it, and they shut off my ability to make and receive phone calls on it. It still gets wifi and I get on the internet with it on wifi, but that's about all I could do with it.

But then I downloaded the Talkatone app to each phone, and now even the Moto G can be used to make and receive phone calls, texts, etc., over wifi. And my Samsung Galaxy Centura can do the same thing over wifi and 3G because I still pay for the Tracfone service. I use the Tracfone service for calls and texts only when it is absolutely necessary. At all other times I try to use Talkatone for calls and texts. That way, I can still get by on the $7 per month Tracfone service.
