Root [Verizon] Can't flash custom ROM

ok now I have a new problem...lol! I went to flash the firmware, I opened Odin, plugged the phone in and it instantly started downloading a new driver (MSM 8???). Needless to say, it couldn't find the driver and now Odin will not recognize my phone. When u plug the phone now it makes a new weird noise and my phone never shows up in Odin. There's no box that pops up after the new noise either. So I don't know whats gping on now...any suggestions? It seems that when I take a step forward, I get knocked 2 steps back...lol

Anyway to uninstall that driver?

Device Manager on your computer should help you locate the driver and you can right click to uninstall.

Ok, it has installed all the drivers and now odin recognizes my phone. I download the firmware, save it to my desktop and when I gomthru odin to open it, it's not there. It's like it was saved under another file instead of PDA tar tgz ect....I'm really confused now...

Make sure to extract the zip to your desktop so that it's a md5 file, it needs to be that file type otherwise Odin will get confused.

Well guys, after a week of reading and searching I finally found what I was looking for! I'm finally on a custom rom...biggins v7. Awesome rom! I've already sent the dev a donation. Thanks to Digital Controller and BRAINZ2013 for all of the help this week! It's good to know that there are people still in existence with patience. I'm not sure where u guys live, but if it was the north western part of NC, I would buy u a beer or the drink of ur choice...lol! I feel like I have a brand new phone!

So far, I have Towelroot, and verified with RootChecker. Installing SuperSU v2.01. (busybox installed also) It askes to download binaries, and I click on TWRP. It fails a verifying full file, and aborts installation. However, just now, it opens without any issues. I downloaded HD8 from XDA, and installed it to slot 1 (left all the slot settings at default for now). it goes through its thing, asks for reboot, but after the bootloader screen, all I get is black. Battery pull, boot into recovery and switch back to slot0.
I havent dug too much deeper, cause I honestly dont like having to fight through ODIN just to get back to stock.

Hey bro, u are having the exact same problem that I had, but now I have a custom rom. The bad news is, if u don't like messing with Odin, u're screwed...lol! These are the steps that I did and got mine to work.

1. Do a Nandroid backup
2. After the back up is done, do a factory reset swipe on the stock slot (don't fear because u have ur nandroid back up) For some reason the stock slot seems to run the roms better than the other slots.
3. Then flash the stock slot with ur HD
4. Then u need to reboot to DOWNLOAD!! This is very important...DO NOT reboot system at this point!
5. Once in down load bring up Odin 3.09 on ur PC and the attach ur phone via USB
6. Once Odin recognizes ur phone u will need to flash a tar.md5 firmware...I will list it in the post to follow
7. When ur phone resets thru Odin u should have ur rom up and running

I'll give it a shot in a couple days. I'm kinda swamped for the time to dedicate to this just now.
Auctually, now that I have Odin and a full stock setup on my pc, it won't be so bad if it bricks. I just want to make sure I have the time to get it right, and not rush.
Thanks
Will

Yeah Will, take your time, hope you get everything up and running :)
