I have Note 3 SM-N9005
It has been working fine for 3 weeks
1- Then suddenly when I removed the S-Pen the device would hang for a few seconds then respond .. when I put it back in the phone also hangs for a few seconds
2- I then found out that the Camera doesn't work giving me the error: "Warning: Camera Failed"
3- The phone hangs many times
I tried restoring a backed up Rom with no change :(
Then I gave it to someone who tried to flash software with no luck .. he opened it and told me it's a RAM problem and needs to be replaced
I couldn't find someone with similar problems, but someone said on some website that the camera failed error could be due to separated camera from the motherboard .. and it can be repaired. Don't know about the other problems though.

I have rooted the phone making it Warranty voided, so I can't send it to warranty service

So is there anyone who knows what is the problem really ?
I find no problem on Recovery mod and half the time the system doesn't hang

Hope someone can help
Thanks :)

Do you actually know if your warranty has been voided and Knox been tripped?

Typically even if this happens, your carrier could care less, they just want you to keep coming back and buying devices and going on contracts there. So you could try that.

Otherwise have you perhaps maybe thought about restoring it to stock? You can do this by putting the device in download mode and flashing the stock firmware back to your device.

First, thanks for your reply
I know I voided my warranty because I called customer service and they confirmed that if I have a hardware problem in the motherboard they would replace it on my expenses as my warranty has been voided.

As for the stock firmware, I've already tried that with no luck :\

Well if you already tried going back to stock and still have this issue it sounds like it might be hardware related.

Have you tried downloading any other camera apps? Like Google's Camera app?

Otherwise you might want to see about getting it replaced. I am still confused on how customer service knows your warranty has been voided. If you followed root guides properly and such then it shouldn't be voided.

Google camera doesn't work either

Download mode shows: "Knox Warranty Void: 0x1"
I asked about it and they say warranty is voided

Ugh yeah, when Knox is still intact it will read 0x0, so yes your Knox counter has been tripped, unfortunately, but it still sounds like your issue is hardware related.

Have you looked into any of the do-it-yourself guides?

No, but I gave to someone that opened it and told me it's a RAM problem and needs to be replaced

The problem is the RAM isn't available yet, and I'm worried it may not be a RAM problem

Can you give me a link to these guides ? I would like to take a look anyway

Well I was just wondering if their were any out there. If it isn't available yet then you can't buy any to do a replace it yourself kind of thing.

Your only option then is to send it in to be looked at. I still implore you to go to your carrier store and talk to them.

Actually I bought it from another country and I would have to send it there
I talked to Samsung employee in my country and called the one in the other country, they both told me they would replace the whole motherboard at my expenses :\

But anyway, thanks for your time and effort :)

Well if anything, it shouldn't be too bad to replace them. Maybe like 100$ tops, if it was more than that I would be extremely surprised.

Actually replacing the motherboard would cost me 3000 EGP which equals 400$ :D
Replacing the RAM (which isn't available yet) outside Samsung would cost me about 140$

Um what....that is really ridiculous. Really good computer motherboards don't even cost that much.

I am really sorry for this predicament :(

These are the steps that I followed before .. But it says nothing about bootloader or other stuff !!

If you followed that and installed that firmware then your bootloader should be included in that and already be up-to-date, which unfortunately dashes my hopes in that category of trying to fix the issue you're having. :(

so did rooting trip the knox bit? or did something else?

have you tried looking up phone repair centers that aren't your cell carrier.

IE here in the US there are other companies that repair cell phones that aren't linked with service providers. they might A) fix it cheaper or B) have a cheaper than 400 refurbished device for you to use and activate

just a random thought

I wonder if anyone has taken this to court .. I still cannot imagine that a tripped Knox counter voids a hardware warranty given by law (2 years in Europe).

willingly tampered with the useable condition of the device - therefore warranty void.

would be the same view in the court as if you decided to modify the programing of the Engine Control unit in your car - and you have a brand new car. you willingly tampered with the code of the delivered condition.

I can't imagine it wouldn't hold up.

now on the other hand if you were to get details on how and what tripped the Knox bit - then you might have a leg to stand on.
