Am I the only one who cringed when discovering that the successor to the Moto X would also be called Moto X? Apple did this with the iPad, Google did it with the Nexus 7, and now Motorola has done it with the Moto X. It's not so much that it's a bad idea to keep a product name over multiple generations of a product (car manufacturers do this regularly), it's the lack of distinction for the first generation that bothers me. Anything related to the first generation Moto X - reviews, blog posts, forum posts, 3rd party accessories, Motorola accessories - provide no mention of which model year they apply to, causing needless confusion when reading, or purchasing accessories; all because Motorola lacked the forethought to uniquely identify the product. I understand that each device has a unique model number (except for the Developer Edition and the "T-Mobile" edition), but that's little or no help when you're reading reviews, posts, or accessory descriptions that simply refer to "Moto X".
I ran into this with the Droid (now referred to as the "OG Droid") - good luck searching for something related to the Droid without being inundated with things related to all of the models in the Droid family.
