Help Cant Receive or Send MMS.....

First off I have a Verizon GS5 non rooted. From what I can tell, ever since I applied the 4.4.4 update, I cannot receive or send MMS messages. I have tried several different apps: Verizon Message +, Hangouts, Textra, GO SMS, and none of them can send or receive.

When I receive a MMS I get a gray box that says "Download" even though I have "download automatically" checked in the settings. Even still when I push on the download button nothing happens.

I get the same results whether I'm on wifi on 4G. I have tried away from home with full 4G bars and at home with full Wifi signal and no luck. I want to say prior to the update everything worked fine. I have done a full factory reset twice with no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS: I should add that sending receiving SMS is fine and internet is fine as well.

Hi, the MMS settings are different to the other settings, follow this link, about a third down the page are the Android settings, follow the instructions and see if this helps. Phil

I tried to reset the APN on hangouts and on Textra but they wouldn't take them. In the stock settings: More Networks-Mobile networks-Access Point Names...the setting are different than in the above post and cannot be modified.

On my Droid Bionic unrooted running Android 4.1.2 the APN settings are identical to the GS5 on 4.4.4. MMS works fine on stock messaging, Hangouts, etc.

This still leads me to believe 4.4.4 on Verizon broke something in the MMS.

Anyone else on a Verizon GS5 4.4.4 unrooted having the same problems?

I am not having any trouble on Verizon after the update. I have never been able to send pictures messages on a smart phone over wifi. I was told I have to use 4G for picture messages and that was on Verizon and T-Mobile. I just know on Verizon picture messages using the Samsung stock messaging app are going through fine and I am receiving fine over 4G. Mary

So I flashed the stock NCG 4.4.2 firmware and then took the OTA NE9 4.4.2 firmware and all is well again. But when I take the OTA NI2 4.4.4 firmware MMS is broke again.

Any ideas? Am I the only Verizon GS5 on 4.4.4 with this problem or has anyone else experienced this?

I also have this problem. It's gotten ridiculously worse recently, tho I can't necessarily tie it to an update.

Sometimes, toggling airplane mode will fix it. Other times a restart will fix it, other times a battery pull is necessary.

It's crazy annoying for what's supposed to be a 'premium' device.

I went to Verizon and they shipped me a certified like new replacement to me. Typical, the first one they sent worked fine for about 5 minutes and then the screen crapped out. The second one they sent works fine. I can send and receive MMS once again.

For some reason my problem was definitely linked to the NI2 4.4.4 update.

I would take it to the store and see what they can do for you.

I'm on Verizon and over the past year, have had several different phones registered and working fine on MMS.
Two Galaxy S5 (still in service)
One Galaxy S Fascinate (Verizon's name for the 'S' phone) retired now
One Galaxy S4 mini, retired now
One Lumina running Windows OS (still in service)

I don't think it has anything to do with Verizon or their updates. At least in as far as what I have, none of the phones ever had a problem this past year.
