Got the M8, love it, but got a couple questions.

I just want to start by thanking everyone who helpeed me reach my decision. I got it as my Verizon upgrade with some sort of fancy screen protector to help prevent screen shattering. Also got insurance and was told that I'm protected from all theft and damage. Also if I break it after the M9 is released I can pay the difference and get that. The guy was really helpful and I think that was kind of a tip, because I said "So when the M9 is out, if I were to "crack my screens (with airquotes) I could get the new one at a discount?" and he said yeah. There are a couple questions I have about it.

First of all, there's an issue I find quite disturbing. The screen lock limit. Now, I know it has it's uses and is a very handy feature for some, but the disturbing part is that I can't see how to turn it off. Seeing as how I'm not someone who looks at kiddy porn, a government agent with sensitive information, or a guy with a bunch of hacker friends, it scares me because I know some people who might get it to one try left and if I screw up, there goes my stuff. I've even reached the limit of tries on other phones on nights where I had drank a few too many, and my screen lock pattern is quite elaborate using all but one dot.

Now a question about Lollipop, which I read is gonna be available in the next 90 days. The guy at Verizon said it will allow access to the OS or something making it pointless to root. Does this mean I'll be able to use Xprivacy and other root apps at that point?

Launchers, I read on /g/ that you can use other launchers and they're in the play store and I didn't see anything about root access required and it lets you change the icons, even. Nova seems to be the most popular. Can I change the icons without a new launcher? The default seems decent, but changing the icons could be cool.

When I read about the launcher, they referred to the default as the "BlinkFeed" launcher. I'm not using the BlinkFeed at the moment, and I'm open to putting a different widget or something in there.

Is there a way to make the wallpaper wider where it scrolls over the picture as you scroll across the main screen?

I was really impressed with there not being much bloatware at all. This was a big deciding factor over the S5, that and the smoother interface and metal body. I was kinda pissed that Chrome was the default browser as I really don't trust Google with my browsing data, but I'm sure most of them are pretty unreliable in that aspect and Chrome has a really good interface to it.

Anyway, I guess that about wraps it up. Also, this keyboard is much better on this than the razr. Except at times the space bar shrinks a bit to much and I get
.com instead of a space because my thumbs are still adjusting.

In closing, I love this phone. I'm listening to music on the speakers as I type this and it sounds better than on any other phone I've heard. My Bose headphones are also really clear as well when plugged in.

Edit: I'm a moron, found the messaging app. I was looking under "T" for "Texting". Disregard the question about the texting app. Well, I removed it, so there isn't much of a choice, lol.
