Root How to root Samsung Stellar

I'm back! Verizon sent an upgrade or something to my phone and I keep denying it but it won't go away!!! There doesn't seem to be an option to opt out either. I tried deferring it for 3 years, it wouldn't do that either.

So, I'm assuming I have to back everything up with titanium backup and then unroot?
I saw an unroot function somewhere in an app but can't find it again
Then once I am unrooted I would do the download
then reroot (do I have to go through all the steps like last time?)
and THEN restore from Titanium?

Then I am good until Verizon screws with my phone again?

Thanks a million! I have to keep rebooting the system when the upgrade is accidently activated, its driving me nuts :/

I also have the same issue is tracy1981. So any thoughts would be great.

Still your walkthrough was excellent! And very detailed! Thanks!

Can I fix the stellar if i didnt stop at step 8? I did the Ez-unlocked and Ez-recovery thing, i read too late that that will brick my phone, im really new to this so, i dont know if theres a way to fix it, i can't power on the cellphone, i can't enter recovery mode nor download mode, i cant do anything, if i connect the cell to the pc i hear the sound when you connect any usb device, but seconds later i hear the sound that indicates the pc didnt recognized the device, i dont know what to do :/
Is the cellphone dead?
Sorry if i have bad english, is not my first language, and thankyou very much beforehand

My wife has a Samsung Stellar and I rooted it last fall due to the utter lack of internal storage. It gave her several GBs to work with. Now she has filled it up again. I have several questions:

1). I have an SD card, but I can't seem to figure out how to get stuff on it. Since it's rooted, I think I should be able to move all pics and apps there. Am I right?

2). I think you should know I have a Windows phone. I had some problems with it, and Verizon had me do a factory reset with it. It came back with all my Apps, contacts, and pics still there, which surprised me. It also had an new 6GBs of available space. Awesome. My question is, can I reset a rooted phone and will everything come back the same as it did with the Windows Phone? Will it clear up space as well? I assume it just deleted all of my temporary files?

Also signed up just to say thanks to everyone for their efforts.
I hard-bricked my stellar after rooting and trying EZunlock1.2 since i was on JB4.1.2 and
thought it safe. Hardly, should have heeded the warnings.
So i managed to get to download/bootloader mode after finding the extSDcard boot hack
and flashing ./stellar-unbrick.img to the class10 extSDcard.

I couldn't get heimdall to work on linux, but it would boot to 'custom' so I was able
to use adb to push aboot.mbn from billards MA1_aboot-MA1_kernel_and_TWRP2.5.0.0
That restored my aboot and was able to boot w/out the extSDcard

Once booting got straightened out, I was able to push the boot and recovery images
I wanted to use loki but was not confident that it would
use 0p7 and 0p18 (very little by way of manpages or --help info) so i ended up
using trusty dd to put them into their respective partitions (only after finding out
that .mbn and .lok files could be dd'd)

Now i can happily say that reboot got me the 'billard412 pot
leaf' splash and twrp!

Woot! Back in the game and (almost) tempted to go get a used S3 as the taste in my
mouth for Samsung just melted a bit.

Thanks again folks, keep up the good work!
