I think we have been tricked...at least I hope. This article says that Qualcomm has hinted at something special regarding the HTC One M9.

Qualcomm posted this on twitter:

Another good read from Evan.

If HTC hypes this up to be worth our time and people see the same M8 released. Facebook and Twitter is going to light up in a bad way for HTC. Because more people will have watched and not be amused.

Yeah, I posted that one over in the S6 forum.

An unexpected finding, assuming that is a genuine engineering sample and reflects the final design, is that there is no sign of a micro-SD slot. That really would be a surprising move, especially after several other manufacturers have reinstated it.

So HTC being criticised for re-using the same design while Samsung give up both removable battery and removable storage? I feel like I've wandered into the Twilight Zone... ;)

I don't follow you. o_O

If the S6 comes with 128k built in - that would explain no expansion need - consider this (but it is from BGR) http://bgr.com/2015/02/26/galaxy-s6-vs-iphone-6-vs-htc-one-m9-ufs-memory/

I guess we'll see if it even makes the S6 - we'll know in less than 72 hours.
I'm believing that if Samsung isn't including an SD card, then it only makes sense to roll with this new storage technology.

The enemy for Americans is the carrier.

16 GB is plenty for a lot of people - but with the SGS4, Verizon only offered that model.

Fortunately, the rumored minimum for the S6 is 32 GB - and that's much better market coverage than 16.

I could probably live with 64. I'd whine, bitch, and moan about it, but I could live with it. I guess. :D

$130 phones are getting processors that shame three year old flagships. I'd hope that the same will happen with the new storage technology. For now, early adopters pay more.

Meanwhile, that just leaves ram and radio transceivers.

Although I don't see a current need for 64-bit mobile processing, remember that the SoC is far more than CPUs + GPU. I therefore found this teaser on the 810's image processing most interesting -

Even without a duo camera, a processor with that much horsepower and a really good sensor could capture multiple images in the time a present device could capture one, and make it invisible to the user.

I'm counting on the M9 to have more than just new bells and whistles on the new camera.

Tricked how?

We've known it was going to be a Snapdragon 810 for some time.
Tricked into thinking the M9 won't have a fresh new look/face.

Does it make sense to have everyone tune in to see a new phone and be turned off by it? The PR department had to warn HTC. This better be something big or you could suffer from a backlash.

OK, but you posted a link for the Snapdragon 810 - evidently not your intention then.

The Vine video only showed a silhouette.

I am taking this personal. Don't ask why. Like others have said, we have defended HTC for a long time. And shown a lot of loyalty to their brand. I too was hoping the M8 would have been a 5 inch M7. But I purchased both phones anyway. I can't go to Samsung even if HTC doesn't get it right this time around. I don't have a FB or Twitter account, but I will open up accounts if Sunday at MWC is a letdown in regard to the M9/Hima.

Guys, why was this on CNET? Where did these images come from? I'm getting excited again.

I found that image here on CNET.

Looks nice but it's probably just another independently created render. There are a lot of them floating around
I doubt that simply because mydrivers.com is a pretty accurate source. They have been right about a lot of phones probably because the phones are manufactured in China. Would make sense for them to get the scoop since the writers are in China and have access to Taiwan. Not sure if HTC phones are manufactured in China or Taiwan.

Call me crazy but those images look like the phone is in a case of some sort too. Just to help keep it under wraps.

Which phones have they been the first to accurately leak?

Upleaks has updated his website. There is an m8i/m8 QL (supposedly the leaked one?). The ultra variant has a 5.2" screen and front, touch based fingerprint scanner.

http://upleaks.info/2015/02/27/48/

Where is the 5.5"+ phablet???!
I need 5 inches. Not 5.2. I think 5 is the sweet spot for a phone. Don't really need a fingerprint sensor either.
