Superb.... Meg, you've done it.... MYDGYN... IT'S THERE.make sure you scroll/slide over to "ALL" AA'S. Then head down to the Google (blue) common app and open. Unintelligible updates is there. Just click and follow thru with prompts... Working fine now for me...
That was it!! I went into the search bar one which had nothing but going into the main google one in blue worked! Woo hoo! I can search again! Thank you Meg and Nicopernicus!
Well unfortunately that was short lived. Now some of my apps are not functioning including my camera and my gallery is not accessible. intermittent at best. Google keeps trying the updates. I am wondering if these new updates are making it necessary to have to run the show? In other words sticking with the original version creates a bigger problem.
Ive been having the same issue for 2 weeks as well. I've uninstalled Google several times and restarted my phone and it will work for a minute then back to the same error message. Very frustrating.
Hello,
I have the same issue with google search . Galaxy s3 with latest AT&T firmware update (4.4.2, baseband I747UCUFNJ1. Google app version 4.4.11.16.arm. I uninstalled updated and it worked again for 1 day, It updated google a day later and I'm back to NO network again. Cleared cache and search data. No help.
Tried to delete card preferences and also turn off cards. Both bounce back the error saying "Failed to turn off cards due to a network error." Any idea how else to delete.
My wife's identical galaxy works fine?
Does anyone have any additional ideas?
There was no available update on the Play store so I guess it's not being officially pushed yet.
I went to this link from my phone and downloaded it, when you open the link you might need to change your setting to allow the download to open, as its not from the play store.
Lol, you pretty much just want to go to your Settings>Storage>Apps>All Tab>Google Search> Force Stop it, Disable it, then Re-enable it. Unfortunately it's a phone error with android and you may have to repeat it multiple times. I have had this problem for a while, it's kind of cancer and rage inducing.
If you go to App Manager, scroll across to the ALL tab, then scroll to bottom of the list, any disabled apps will be there and say "disabled" next to them
Alright guys I found the solution! Go to settings>device>application>application manager then scroll across to ALL. After that go down and click on the one that says Google Search. After that click uninstall updates. Everything should work with the search widget after that!!
I even went as far as calling my phone carrier (advanced tech support) and he said he was experiencing issue on his end. He was no help at all. Thank you so much....I now have my google browser bar up and running g on my phone. You my dear are awesome!
I'm on a note 5. Had the same issue. Of all the above ideas, only Uninstall updates on Google App worked. You access it from the MORE menu in the top right on my version of android. Once Uninstalled it worked fine. Then I went to play store and updated Google app. Working fine still. Thanks for everyone's ideas!
Hey guys, I had the same problem on a Galaxy S6. So I went to the App Manager, hit "disable", then re-enabled it. Then I went to widgets and placed the bar back on my homescreen, and when I went in it asked me to agree to some stuff, I did, and now it works fine! I hope this helps.

Okay, for the past few days the search bar on my 5x running 7.1.1 has not worked. No response after clicking search. Seems to be since the Feb security update was installed. No apps disabled.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Update - uninstalled updates on Google App (which also clears all data and your home screen settings by the way!) and now the search works. Very annoying that apparently the only fix for this issue is so destructive.
