Root [Sprint] G2 activated on Boost Mobile, Same process to Root?

I've dabbled with rooting Android phones from time to time. My old F7 was simple to root. No PC, install CWM img, flash simplicity rom, custom kernels etc. The ZTE i had was similar to the G2 root method. Anywho,

I have a Sprint LG G2 (ver 5.0.2 Lollipop) that i had activated on Boost mobile the other day. Are the Sprint root instructions what im looking for? Should they be compatible? I found the "Unjustified" Dev script for Root on all variant lollipop G2's. And Im guessing i need the Autorec version of Recovery installation for lollipop. From my understanding Flashify doesnt work to install recovery with lollipop. I've yet to start the root process until i can check if anyone has used Sprints method for root access on the Boost mobile convert. What am i missing as far as achieving Root and custom recovery installation for this phone?

Have you been able to root and use autorec to flash TWRP yet? If not, let me know. I'm rooted, running TWRP, and have a working hotspot too. The hotspot was the trickiest to get working.

edit:
I cant get root to work. I have tried the One Click method (1.3 & 1.2), DP Root-LG, and a few others.

I can get into download mode, however it just sits @ 0%.

Android: 5.0.2
Model: LG-LS980
Kernel: 3.4.0
Build: LRX22G
Software: LS980ZVG

edit2: I cant get an adb shell going but when I try "adb shell "mount -o remount,rw /system"" it tells me permission is denied.

Any suggestions?

Edit Final: take off the back and remove the battery connector then reconnect. (
)

i tried the 1.2 version of the one click first, didnt work.
but the 1.3 gui version worked, finally. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-lg-firmwares-kitkat-lollipop-t3056951)

tried to use autorec.apk to install TWRP (2.7.0.0). it did, but it left me with "security error" at boot.

i flashed TWRP 3.8.7.1 (bump blastagator) thinking it would solve the problem. it didn't. blank screen after LG logo.

could still get into TWRP, but no terminal/adb access. tried to flash a few ROMs. none ever got pass the blank screen after completed flashing.

finally downloaded ZVE.tot & LGFlashTool. now i'm left with a unrooted phone no longer connected to boost. :(

but its not bricked! anyone know an easy way to get back on the boost network and back to ZVG so I can reroot it and try to install TWRP again?

lol all this just because I want a slim ROM installed.

edit: i now realize i did not know how to use the terminal correctly. it looks like a file manager until you hit select at the bottom right.

my blog part3:

i forgot i had to develeper mode > usb debug before root.
am rooted now. installed TWRP (2.7.0.0) via autorec. did not "security error" on me. i think it is because i hit exit instead to rebooting into recovery.

will blog (lol) about what happens after i flash a slim stock rom.

edit: still no boost network

i tried. didn't work. i think my ESN/MEID/IMEI/etc. got messed up somewhere because none of it looks right/normal. but i'm ignorant on these things.

edit: this is what i get for abandoning my samsung prevail (the first one, not LTE). i know it, lol.

edit2: my MEID DEC is different from the one on the back of my phone, any quick way to change it back? & will changing it back fix the others?

edit3: converted my MEID Dec (from the back of my phone) via http://imei.org/meid-esn-imei-converter/
i do recognized my old ESN from the conversion.
i think you can edit these in one of the service menus?
i think i need my MSL to do so...?

Btw, you need your msl code to reprogram your mdn and msid numbers, just call Boost and they'll give it to ya, just a heads up, my data is now working on my G2 for Boost, if anyone is putting a Sprint G2 on Boost you don't need a new uicc card the data may take a day or so to kick in, I learned this the hard way after wrestling around with Boost Mobile's Customer Service line for 4 days straight, patience is the key friends

Yep. I told ya that card they wanted to send you wasn't needed. Boost techs just don't know WTH they're talking about. Well, most of them anyways. It took several calls and a supervisor or 2 to get my data working.

I'm digging this new ZVH update. I'm glad i let you and @wyelkins talk me into taking it. May not be able to flash any of the ZVG custom ROMs since they'll remove the stagefright patch but rooted ZVH with TWRP and the hotspot mod isn't bad all. Had to remove a good bit of bloat but it's all good. My phone is running like a champ AND has the stagefright patch. As LG would say...... Life is Good! LMAO
