Root Three Step No PC Required Root,Recovery,Rom Guide [ZTE Awe Only]

update framaroot did not work and when i downloaded superuser su it says there is no SU binary installed and superusersu cannot install it this is a problem

I know you mentioned you are not ZTE Awe but I think you should still be able to root using something that I rooted myself from. Called the Kingo app. You download it to your computer and plug in your phone (USB Debugging enabled) and then run the app. My phone had to go from B07 to B04 before Kingo could recognize and root my phone though so if you are having trouble rooting, that might be why. It was a nuisance for me.

Thought this might be useful for those looking for a reliable guide to doing everything right from the phone.

2. Download and prepare to install [Root] Rashr below by first downloading TWRP Recovery from here on the forums.

I'm looking to root my Awe and install a kitkat rom, I have a couple of questions.

1. Which version TWRP do I use - http://androidforums.com/threads/recovery-twrp-2-8-6-0.850849/#post6589590 - how do I install it?

2. What is the most stable KitKat rom ?

I rooted android devices before , but never installed a rom.

Thanks

Ive tried everything on this thread and to no avail. N800 zte. The root app in chinese updated to english and says it couldnt be rooted try again and it could work. Help!

Yeah, that was me for the longest time. I tried so so so many methods. For me, I had to go back down to a B04. Not sure if you know what I'm talking about but what I mean by B04 is the version your phone is on. Something to do with software or I don't know lol all I knew is that B07 was a way that the company tried to prevent rooting. Anyway some say you can root on a B07 but after the many methods I tried, I concluded myself that you can't lol so I did some research and went back to a previous version and tried rooting and it worked flawlessly. If you wanna try it I can guide you through it, it's pretty easy.

http://www.zteusa.com/media/wysiwyg/virgin-awe/update.zip -----> puts you back into Bo4 stock which is needed in order to root because anything later will not allow roots. I previously had a Bo7 which is why no method would work for me.

http://www.zteusa.com/media/wysiwyg...grade_Instructions_English_-_PDF_-_264KB_.pdf ----> guide to using the update.zip file

Successfully attached the new bo4 stock. Rooted with the kingo app that I downloaded to my computer and attached my phone via USB. When my phone turned back on from the update stock, my phone had been sent back to factory reset so, make sure you have everything backed up. I found an app that will allow wifi hotspot to be enabled....

The quote above is my own instructions on how I figured it out for myself. I don't know if this will give you a direct link. I'll try and figure out how to give you a link to it if this doesn't work.

Sure, if you have the time. I'll check back soon.thanks.

Let me know if you need help still which you might cuz I don't know if I was clear enough. Kinda just briefed on it real quick. I don't know if I'll reply any further tonight though, might be going to bed. Have work early in the morning but I'll help you more tomorrow if I fall asleep before then tonight.

Thought this might be useful for those looking for a reliable guide to doing everything right from the phone.

1. Download and install RommasterSu zip below and install it and gain root. It is in chinese and will install proper root using a superuser app they like to call "Kinguser". Dont worry about all the chinese you see..just click the few prompts you see by selecting the buttons that are blue and on right hand side of screen at the bottom..then you will see a little red root button next to a small cartoon character, pick it to gain root..once root is gained move to step two.

2. Download and prepare to install [Root] Rashr below by first downloading TWRP Recovery from here on the forums. Once you have the recovery downloaded and in the root of your sdcard, install this app. You will be first prompted with a disclaimer, select "I know the risk" option and then select the big "recovery" button, and then select "Other from storage"..now select recovery.img [this is your recovery image,be sure to extract it from any zip it may be in,Rashr will need the base recovery img file]from your sdcard and allow the app to flash it,once the app flashes the recovery img it will offer the option to boot in to recovery.. Go ahead and reboot in to recovery and move on to step 3.

3. Once in recovery backup your current rom. Once that is done perform a wipe of cache,dalvik-cache,data,internal storage and system, and finally install rom of your choice and reboot. (Already have one downloaded and ready to try out..) I would suggest something like L Awe rom as something to begin with and you wont be disappointed. It is a well made custom stock rom.

edit: the zips proivided need to be extracted...use an app like root explorer.

also i made this guide after several failed attempts at using the pc methods on xp,vista and windows 7 devices..there was always some conflict between the phones drivers and pdanet on vista and windows 7 and xp refused to sideload anything on my pc and caused the pc to reboot when attempting to sideload...usb conflict...so if you do encounter any issues on your windows devices..this might be just what you are looking for.

All I see is a black screen for the rommastersu file

http://www.gsmarc.com/zte/awe/compare/maven/ has these two models as "related phones".

I have the ZTE Z812 Maven. I've only had it a short time, and haven't put much into it, so I'm not risking much. It was not so expensive > if I have a trainwreck trying this --

The phone seems to work fine but it DOES seem to have a rather LARGE chunk of the internal 8GB mem being used up > nearly 5GB. If that's TYPICAL,, I might just let this go,, and just get a bigger external SD card than the one I have (8 GB) and max it out at the allowed max of 32 GB. That's an ungodly enormous amount I would never come close to needing more than..

My concern is that I have gotten messages that there is not sufficient (internal) space to install a downloaded app,, and I've Googled this & found it is a known bug,, & there's various patches,, but I didn't locate any that worked on my device.. So I'm thinking about just ROOTING the damn device and seeing if I can manage the space better with ES File Manager Pro.

OS Version: Android 5.1 Lollipop
Chipset: MSM8916 (Qualcomm Shapdragon 410)
Processor: Quad-core
Prcessr Speed: 1.2 GHz
GPU: Adreno 306

Internal Mem: 8 GB (3.1 GB Available)
RAM Size: 1 GB
Memory Slot: MicroSD
Memory Max: 32 GB

The phone came out last year around June of 2015 release date, so it's not an old throwback model..

This thread is as close as I've found which at least directly mentions a ZTE phone instead of usual suspects like Samsung HTC etc etc..

If you have any insight about this, that may possibly be of value, please don't hesitate to reply.
That's why I typed all this. I'm open to any of your suggestions, tips, or helpful reminders.

All Feedback Welcome:

Thanks.
