From the Site Rules/Guidelines:

Please treat other members with respect. These forums were put together for Android fans to come together and help each other, collaborate and discuss in a positive way; not bash on someone because you don't like their idea, or because they don't share the same views as you. We are big into the free speech idea here. So you're free to say what you think; but do it in a constructive, positive, 'add to the conversation' kinda way; not the condescending 'I don't like what you're saying so you suck' kinda way. We encourage mature debates; discourage childish arguments.

Thanks!

Well, I guess I'll put my 2 cents worth in... LoL. I've read through this thread for the most part and, before doing so, had already decided to keep my Note 7. Clearly, there are some of you that don't agree and, some that do. That's fine since we are all entitled to our opinion... at least where I'm from.

In making my decision to keep my Note 7, one big factor for me was this... There were, roughly, 2.5 million of them made/distributed. Of those, approximately 93(I might be off by a couple) smoked, burned, etc. That means that only 0.0000372 of a percent of theme had issues up to this point. I completely understand that that number could increase and I'll reassess as needed but, with no new reports for weeks now, I think I'll take those odds. I'm a numbers guy... You may not agree with me and that's fine. But, I'm more likely to suffer serious injury in my car or walking down the stairs in my home at this point with those odds. Hell, I might even win the lottery before my N7 has any problems! ;)

FYI, I don't charge it while sleeping. Verizon didn't charge me for the phone so I'm out NO money AND I'm still eligible for an upgrade if/when I decide to change phones!

So now we read that T-Mobile will send an update out to limit the phone to only 60% charging capacity. That makes sense!! Better to have the holdouts CHARGING their phones twice as much to keep using it.
BTW with access to chargers at literally every store, bar, coffee shop etc. 60% is plenty of charge for hours of use. In fact why 60% and not 20%? I've read all the criticism of people still using their phone and it falls on deaf ears I assure you. And would you like to know why?
There is NO SENSE OF URGENCY being displayed by any carrier or Samsung to REALLY get these phones back. Talk to a Verizon rep. and they're so lackadaisical about it. They laugh and joke about it and practically encourage you not to send it back until you have t00. Also amazing that suddenly no more phone incidents are being report. No doubt there was a problem but there is also plenty of fraud and sensationalism. That's all for this morning.

I was in us cellular store yesterday to switch to v20 untill sammy brings out a new one. There was a problem with the finance charge so she had me keep my gn7 for another day. It's like they know nothing is going to happen so it's no big deal to keep using it.

Wow!! Amazing I know!!! This is what I'm talking about. Well good luck with the new phone when you get it. I just checked out the Note 7 Facebook group. Downloaded the EZ disabler, they actually had to change (ordered by Samsung) their software so you could not avoid Samsung updates. Lucky there is a work around.

Dude, get on Facebook to find out. Don't delay.

Do you have any more specifics about the crippling of EZ Disabler? I just took a look, and YES, I must have received the 'new' version of it and it had REMOVED my disabling selections for the OTA updates, and I think they have removed even showing those in the app anymore. I just emailed the app seller and asked for my money back, or those features to be returned to me.

Samsung forced them to, also the developer of Package Disabler Pro, which I was using. They were told by Samsung that their apps would be removed from the PlayStore if they did not comply. Glad you got to it in time.
Actually, I was able to follow my nose and get the 2.4.1 version of EZ Disabler re-installed and working, and I've disabled it from auto-updating in the Play Store.

Yes, sanity is right. 2.5+ million phones and circa 100 caught fire (NOT EXPLODED). None since Sammy recall nears it's peak.
My Note 4 sometimes gets very hot- is that going to ignite ??? My wife's S4 also got hot at times. I never charge it overnight. I charge it in the evening when I can keep an eye on it. Some of the people who reckoned their phone caught fire were probably after some money.
One had the phone on top of a Macbook- convenient- especially if it was on older model. One had the jeep or whatever it was catch alight and burn out- again convenient.
The fact that it has been nearly 3 months since all this trouble brewed and a firm like Samsung hasn't been able to replicate the fault suggests that nothing was wrong with the majority of Note 7's. Academic for us in UK, because only a few thousand got here, and I still had 7 months left of contract, so didn't order one. I never buy a phone anyway until it has been out for a month or two.
I still blame apple- throwing a wobbly at Note 7, trying to knobble it before their oh so dreary iphone 7 came out.
:D:)

As I have said already.
There is NO SENSE OF URGENCY being displayed by any carrier or Samsung to REALLY get these phones back. They could suspend accounts immediately until phones were turned in? They don't care!!!
As in the Android Guys link I used the analogy of auto recalls a couple of weeks ago.
My phone has been working flawlessly. I installed the EZ dialer app to avoid any software update. I don't charge it unless I'm present and I don't charge it overnight just to be safe. I use a Note 5 as a second phone so if I have to get on a plane I'll forward the Note 7 calls/texts. Samsung jumped the gun on the 2nd recall due to the hype of a world with the internet and a flash mob mentality. I'm not being belligerent but I have no intention of returning my phone unless I face a big $$ penalty. BTW on another thread someone equated using a Note 7 to drunk driving. I hesitated to respond but seriously get a life.

My wife returned her note 7 last week. The sales representative told her the force battery cap is just one of the things Samsung is doing to get people to return the device. He said more force updates are going to be pushed out Note 7s. Essentially the note 7 is going to become plague with so many issues people won't have a choice. Another thing is Samsung has already cut all support for the device, no system updates, security patches, no diagnostical support

All true. Samsung should make sure they are making their first priority to figure out, resolve and explain the battery problem of the Note 7. If they don't put it behind them in that manner, they are going to limp badly for a long time going forward. If not worse. Going out of their way to cripple the Note 7's still out there, and make their use as unpleasant as they can for everyone with them, is only going to inflict more damage on themselves. No one likes when they aren't in absolute control of a situation they created for themselves, but that's the case for Samsung now. There's no way they can avoid the fact that once they take people's money for a device they sell to them, those people possess agency over those devices. Samsung would be well advised to make their customers as informed as possible, included recommending giving up the devices, but they should also try and make the experience as positive as possible for all the people who decide they want to take their chances and keep their devices.

I'm kinda wishing I had kept mine now. I turned in N7 number 1 (first recall) and then N7 number 2 to (second recall) Verizon in October and have been trying to get my money back ever since. I paid full price (cash) and got an S7 on device payment while waiting for a refund as they refused to give me a refund at the time even though I had a receipt. They said they had to refund in the same form as I had paid but didn't have that much cash on hand. They promised to have a check sent to me. No check was forthcoming in September for 1st phone or October for 2nd phone.
As of today they finally put all of my money back into my Verizon account to apply towards future bills even though I have called and called and called to either get my money sent to me or applied as a payoff of the S7. They don't see a problem. They say the phone is being paid off since each month some of the credit balance will be applied towards the phone so we should be good now. I swear I will be bald soon trying to reason with them! I wish they'd just give me back my beautiful Note7!
